✨ Join the upcoming Mannheim Open Science Meetup✨ 🗞️ Topic: Reproducible Research Data Management with DataLad 🗣️ Speaker: Lennart Wittkuhn 📅 Date: Wed, Feb 26, 2025 ⏰ Time: 2:00 PM 📍 Location: Online, sign up here: lnkd.in/ek9YDNuB

Print this out and put it on your pinboard! Most compact and at the same time clear and intuitive figure on possible associations between predictors and outcome (or variables). (source: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/..., by @dingdingpeng.the100.ci and @achatton.bsky.social)

Awesome postdoc opportunity Mannheim/Heidelberg! Option A: chose from the exiting projects proposed by us Option B: propose your own project --> get two years postdoc at Germany's oldest uni with some of the best neuroscience facilities in Europe! www.health-life-sciences.de/opportunitie...

I am very late to the party, but can we talk about the absolute LEGEND patchwork by @thomasp85.com?! I have two plots, one with a hidden y axis (it's the same for both plots). But the plot area will greedily take up the space freed up by the axis, so it appears larger in cowplot's plot_grid(). 1/4

This whole thread! Timelines in grant proposals are basically never accurate, and everyone knows. And since previous proposals are the yard stick for future project duration estimates ... Putting people into time management workshops won't fix this.

📺🎤 Video Release! We teach scientists how to track, organize and share their work using #VersionControl with #Git! I was interviewed about our course concept (German only, sorry)! 🧑‍🏫 Thanks to #DDLitLab @uni-hamburg.de for production + funding! 🙏 lecture2go.uni-hamburg.de/l2go/-/get/v...

Been teaching my students for years that they should never use T and F, because F <- TRUE. But I like this probabilistic approach even better! You'll never know when it hits you.

Graphic design-wise, I've found {patchwork} to be the best of the plot-combining packages because it actually keeps similar elements aligned across the multiple plots! #rstats #dataviz

I'll be teaching biopsych for the first time this autumn, based on the "Neuroscience - Exploring the Brain" book by Bear, Connors, & Paradiso. Does anybody have inspo in the form of slides, memes, videos, etc. that they're using to make their lecture less dry/intense?

Honored to be giving a keynote at #useR2024! I brought R mugs across the pond for the occasion 😄

Help my colleague with this amazing, ambitious project! As #OpenScience as it gets!

Have you read our (David Morgan, @caggursoy.bsky.social , Samuel Sander, @skjerns.bsky.social , @gordonfeld.bsky.social ) paper about how reward guides retrieval decisions yet? If you haven't, maybe this short "behind the paper" blogpost is for you. communities.springernature.com/posts/memory...

📣 We are pleased to announce that the next Mannheim #OpenScience Meetup will feature Prof. Dr. Felix Schönbrodt from LMU Munich who will be presenting and discussing "Research assessment with responsible metrics and indicators: A Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment working group". 📣

🚨BREAKING 🚨 Abstract submission for the 2024 Psychology and Brain (PuG) conference is open (registration is expected to open next week) via pug2024.de. Deadline for symposia/panel discussions: 29.2, poster: 31.3. See you in Hamburg!

New paper with Edgar Erdfelder, @nilspetras.bsky.social & @juli-nagel.bsky.social: Uncovering null effects in null fields: the case of homeopathy authors.elsevier.com/c/1iOd-3BcJQ... "the mixture-model estimate of the true homeopathy effect reduces to zero when considering selective publication"

Come and join us for an interesting discussion with @amreibahr.bsky.social next week! 🤗

Ah, yes. #day3 of the #AdventOfCode2023 wants me to find neighbours in a matrix, as it does every year. I'm pretty sure there's more elegant ways to code this up, BUT my code is reasonably fast, and I'm still sticking to base R. Find all my AoC code here: github.com/einGlasRotwe... #AdventOfCode

Day 2 of the #AdventOfCode2023 in #rstats was one of these days where I spent more time formatting the input than coding up the actual solution. Is it pretty? No. But I didn't need to add much for part 2. Find all my AoC code here: github.com/einGlasRotwe... #AdventOfCode

#day1 of the #AdventofCode2023 in #rstats: As usual, AoC punished my lazy solution for part 1 in part 2. Eventually, I managed a regex that worked (not sure whether by accident, lol). Bit scared of the upcoming puzzles, if day 1 is setting the pace ... Find my code here: github.com/einGlasRotwe...

Here's my GitHub repo for this year's #AdventOfCode in #rstats. I will also post about my solutions each day (that I manage to survive). This year will be tricky, because my co-pilot this year is a three-month old who knows surprisingly little R. #AdventOfCode2023 github.com/einGlasRotwe...

Sooo ... who else is hyped for the #AdventOfCode 2023? Are the #rstats kids also here? If so, please say hi in the comments :-) #AdventOfCode2023

www.nature.com/articles/d41... can we talk about solutions

Hello Bluesky! I'm Juli, a #phdstudent who's interested in how reward influences #memory - and what #sleep has to do with that. Most importantly, my love language is #Rstats. I also like gaming, western riding and climbing - and recently got into that whole "being a parent" thing.
