"It’s not debatable: people are sicker". Including kids. @juliadoubleday.bsky.social www.thegauntlet.news/p/kids-keep-...

nothing good has ever come from presenting disabled and sick people as a literal threat to the nation

#CovidIsNotOver #LongCovid #LongCovidKids #CovidImmuneCompromise

"It’s unclear, what, exactly, “watching out”, lacking any public health interventions or guidance whatsoever, is supposed to accomplish." Excellent as usual from @juliadoubleday.bsky.social

For those – with or without children – who might care.

"Winter 2020-2021 had been the year of lockdowns ..., but by the next year, kids were sick. As 2022 progressed, the kids remained sick. As winter turned to spring, and summer, back to fall and winter again, the kids couldn’t seem to shake their seasonal and suddenly-not-so-seasonal bugs."

“If we were to see immune damage manifesting at a population level, it would look like what we’re seeing today: big waves of common illnesses. Unusual spikes of uncommon illnesses. Course reversal for previously declining and eliminated illnesses. An unexplained global wave of sickness” COVID➡️damage

I wince every time I see someone with a tiny baby in crowded public spaces

Remember when a bunch of sources were claiming things like "kids can't get covid" and such?

Also from the informative and insightful mind of @juliadoubleday.bsky.social, THIS is why govt abdicates responsibility for public health and Covid and other disease mitigations 👇 Too much effort, liability and 💰💰💰 that will negatively affect the economy etc. Let her count the ways:

It’s concerning in Aust too, as we go into winter. The sheer number of children and infants with RSV, pertussis, SARS-Cov-2, influenza and pneumonia is notable. Yet health depts always recommend hand washing, Not cleaning the air or masking. #SarsCov2 #Influenza #RSV #pertussis #mycoplasma

I also want to note that the school closure critics contributed to this. People like Zweig, and others, who refused to acknowledge longer term consequences of COVID for children and are now being published by @mitpress.bsky.social

“At no point…are parents urged to wear masks, investigate the air quality at their local schools, or stay home when ill. It’s unclear, what, exactly, “watching out”, lacking any public health interventions or guidance whatsoever, is supposed to accomplish” Abdication of govt responsibility, bien sûr

Parents are urged to “watch out” for unusual waves of illness. We’re already seeing an unprecedented measles outbreak. A whooping cough one is growing as well. Will people ever consider that it’s time to start mitigating covid? Wear a mask and clean the air? Repeat infections aren’t inevitable

ICYMI: As kids keep getting sicker, media ignores scientific papers pointing to immune dysregulation and damage after COVID. Instead, parents are urged to “watch out” for unusual waves of RSV, flu, and more, while masks, clean air & COVID go unmentioned. www.thegauntlet.news/p/kids-keep-...

💯 In the current Ontario Measles outbreak, 58 people have contracted Measles after having 2 vaccine doses, including 2 pregnant women Bring back masks

This isn’t exactly correct. 2 MMR doses are 97% effective at preventing infection- enough to drive measles out of circulation if enough ppl are vaccinated due to HERD immunity. But if herd immunity is broken, you still have a small chance of becoming infected if it’s circulating widely. So mask up

Well, fuck.

A quadriplegic man named Normand Meunier died via MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying) after being neglected for 4 days in ER. He was denied a specialized mattress, wasn’t turned & ended up with terrible bed sores. His partner says she was threatened with removal from the ER for advocating for him 🧵

Remote work empowers workers, is more accessible, is beneficial for the environment, and frees up urban space for housing. Right-wingers like Elon Musk want to re-assert control over workers, and they’re using pandemic culture wars to do it. My latest: www.thegauntlet.news/p/remote-wor...

"RFK Jr.'s "MAHA" movement doesn't want to eliminate chronic illness. They want to eliminate the chronically ill. By @juliadoubleday.bsky.social ⬇️

Three!

A couple weeks ago, I wrote that the MAHA movement does not want to eliminate chronic illness- it wants to eliminate the chronically ill. Since then, RFK Jr’s actions and statements have only reinforced my belief that his HHS will target disabled and sick ppl. www.thegauntlet.news/p/rfk-jrs-ma...
