A full color and hypothetical reconstruction of the head of recently found Dimartinia, based more or less in small sparassodonts as Cladisictis and Lycopsis for proportions. Interestingly, the mandible looks tiny compared to the teeth.

A reconstruction of Dimartinia pristina, a small sparassodont from the Cerro Azul Formation, Argentina (approx. 9 million years ago). It shares features with the strange thylacosmilids, the sabertooth lineage of sparassodonts as Thylacosmilus, but it doesn't have the specialized mandible.

An unexpected "After Man" reference from the 1992's "Rand McNally Picture Atlas of Prehistoric Life." The art is by Tim Hayward, a regular contributor to palaeontology themed children's books of the 1980s and 1990s. I love the look of that rabbuck!

Since algorithms across various social media platforms are making it harder to see what you enjoy, here's a thread of #paleoart I think is underrated or a tad overlooked. Kicking things off with Sam Milkovits' azhdarchid portrait

Pampaphoneus biccai - Anteosaur from Brazil's Rio do Rasto Formation. #permian #brazil #paleoart

Since that a recent paper indicates that remains of megafauna of Brazil suggests that some members of it, as the camelid Paleolama survived until the Holocene, is interesting to consider the idea that some rock paintings from there are also inspired by these late survivors.

Happy hollidays!

Just a quick drawing, wishing all of you a Happy Christmas and the best for 2025! This is inspired by the recent discovery of tooth of Globidens in Colombia, which inspects a curious sell of an ammonite. 😉

Krypto really did take us home: With over 250 million views & a million social posts, #Superman is officially the most viewed & most talked about trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros. This is because of all of you: thank you!

Apparently there's a myth out there that pronghorn have telescope eyes that can see the rings of Saturn. That sounds real cool but I don´t think it's true. Also getting distracted by astronomy probably would have been maladaptive in the Pleistocene...

Look up. #Superman is only in theaters July 11.

Bust of Sebecus icaeorhinus. This is actually a test for a larger -Iberosuchus- project I am working on. Sebecosuchia was really something. #Crocodylomorpha

Love is in the air 🦖❤️🦕 Hypothetical mating postures in two therocephalian dinosaurs. The first is a pair of mating Polacanthus, an ankylosaur from Early Cretaceous Europe The second is a drawing of a mating pair of Stegosaurus from Late Jurassic North America #paleoart #sciart #dinosaurs

Brontotheres are fun

Did SOME dicynodonts behave like ground sloths? No, of course not - what a terrible idea! But here's a 2020 article I wrote about this very interesting proposal .... tetzoo.com/blog/2020/11...

I created this painting "Dinosaur Parade" in 1990, before I invented the whole concept of Dinotopia. I just wanted to give a glimpse of a lost empire that humans shared with peaceful dinosaurs. Jumping through that picture frame and living inside the painting changed my life.

Efectivamente, fue un trabajo fantástico.

This time, here is the skull of the primitive manatee Potamosiren magdalenensis from Colombia. Named from a partial lower mandible and some molars, since then it has been recovered additional teeth and a piece of maxilla with upper molars, which was assigned to the dugong Metaxytherium.
