I created this painting "Dinosaur Parade" in 1990, before I invented the whole concept of Dinotopia. I just wanted to give a glimpse of a lost empire that humans shared with peaceful dinosaurs.
Jumping through that picture frame and living inside the painting changed my life.

I just wanted to tell you that Dinotopia was one of the earliest and brightest beacons of imagination and hope in my childhood, and the wonder it sparked in me has stayed with me throughout my life.
The painting is beautiful too!
Welcome to BlueSky, James!
The local library had a copy. Every time I had a chance to go, I would race to find this book and look at the paintings until I had to leave.
It's still my favourite thing in the world 💙
Signed, someone who STILL has her Dinotopia chapter books on her shelf (Hatchling, Windchaser, River Quest)
...time to fill this Bluesky with skybax and other wonders! ✨
Stunning work to marvel at on each page. Thank you Mr. Gurney! 😊
I never did end up outgrowing dinosaurs.
Love it.
