How did I not know that Mahe Drysdale had such a broad and beautiful New Zealand accent?

William and I are hanging out today. He's usually asleep while his person is at work but he wants my knee and what the Elderly Gentleman wants, he gets. Just one of the perks of being 17 years, two months and two weeks old. Also, I'm stripping the bathroom walls and the stripper needs another hour

Surprised how few people had seen this when I posted it on Waitangi Day, which is for me a day to look with wide open eyes at the ways White Supremacy is part of every day life in New Zealand, offline and online… *cough, cough bsky* Awareness requires action, and settlers have a lot of work to do.

A Christmas cartoon for the Guardian. Happy holidays, everyone!

We were going to have Xmas Eve brunch but the little nephew needed a emergency Dr visit these morn so it became Xmas Eve lunch. And I worked out how to hang the stockings w out damaging anything 👍 A good day

I have a friend who is in Destiny. We cope by not discussing it. BUT today I see this on her FB. I have screen shot it, and my reply, because this is what the Christians are thinking and why they are supporting genocide. I can't even with this, guys (buckle up) (thread of pics)

I want to buy this man a beer #nzpol

Got a reply from Luxon. I asked what evidence he had about the increase in crime with the smokefree law change. No evidence in the reply, instead "we think Labour’s changes would have resulted in a black market and an escalation of ram raids" So there you go folks, policy based on feels. #nzpol

luxo: prohibition doesn’t work so you can all smoke now also luxo: no weed or mobile phones

If you want to petition the new government to keep the Smokefree Act of 1990 and amendments, please voice your support here: petitions.parliament.nz/a2eaafbd-ded... Repost for visibility 🫶🏼

I pulled out some plants because I discovered they were invasive. There was (as it turns out) a hedgey nest in the middle. We checked and he got up after dark and went back to bed by morning, as expected. But today the blackbirds evicted him and destroyed the nest. Boo.

New government: "Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency turns into NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi" Also new government: “End wasteful government spending”

Make no mistake, people. Binning the smoke-free nz stuff is anti-Maori and anti-poor people. If they were actually worried about the black market while not caring who dies, they'd cut the taxes on tobacco, not rely on those taxes to fund their tax cuts for rich people #nzpol

🇳🇿🚭 "The National Party campaigned on "better health outcomes" and said it would "relentlessly focus on results" - but this goal would be completely undermined by the repeals, Swinburn said." Contact every National MP to ask them to vote with their conscience. Smoke no more - Cross the Floor.

It's William's 17th birthday today! We celebrated with fish n chips (his favourite)

Miss 7 informed me today that Countdown is turning into "Werewolves" Looking forward to those full moon pet food specials.

I really want Winston to dig in and insist the free prescriptions stay. It costs about $24 to get a repeat prescription from the Dr. That extra fiver is crippling on top. Also Drs need to let ppl pick up their scripts to save $. They're charging to generate, AND send to pharmacy. It's a racket

I knew it was the English, but hadn't thought too much about exactly who authorised Joan's execution. I had heard they made sure the executioner couldn't reach her to kill her so she actually burned to death. Poor Joan.

My Winston Prediction: Context: We have seen Peters try to chanel his mentor Robert Muldoon over the years, especially when dealing with the media. He was banging on on Twitter about how the media was ignoring the excellent turnouts he was seeing at his community meetings on the campaign trail. 1/

Honestly, I’ve been laughing since yesterday at this.

Came home from work and noticed someone has trimmed my tree that hangs over the footpath. It was not low. I trim it regularly. They didn't do a terrible job, but wth. Also they didn't do it as nicely as I would have.

For those wanting to say ‘I am from Aotearoa’ I. Te Reo Maori, one way is to say: ‘ngai Aotearoa ahau’. Its the equivalent of saying I am an Aotearoa-rian without mixing languages, but has a deeper connotation as well, like, ‘I belong to Aotearoa’. The inverse of Aotearoa is my country.
