The idea that one network could dupe thousands of UA teams, marketers, data analysts, and CMOs is just… not how this works. It’s also worth noting that short-seller reports like these can impact stock performance. Following the release of the reports, AppLovin’s stock show a significant decline.

So even if CTRs are inflated (as claimed in the report) due to some dodgy practices, it would become obvious once the campaign results come in. If the traffic doesn’t convert, the spend gets cut. Simple.

Performance marketers, especially in gaming, are incredibly tech-savy and advanced with their strategies. They don’t just throw money at a network blindly. They invest based on post-install performance - not just CTRs or clicks.

Performance marketing is becoming more and more complex, going from optimising campaigns based on ROAS to now having to look at metrics such as retention, post install engagement, but also producing briefs for creatives and constantly staying updated on new trends to innovate in UA strategy.
