If there was a deliberate aim of lying about her relationships to make her look bad, I agree that is both bad and unnecessary. I think rumors have a tendency to spread faster than the truth and so people repeat things they believe. If I am mistaken then my understanding of those involved is too.

I was ready to quit my high paying job in a bad market because it came out that a new C-level executive was a racist.
