I expect some universities will forgo federal grants if indirect costs are fixed at 15%, and if there are no compensatory changes on what are allowed as direct costs. On top of that, proposed cuts to NIH and NSF budgets will mean US cannot continue to lead in cutting edge research.

Firing experts breaks systems. The flywheel for some of the consequences may be long (e.g., stopping a drug trial under the guise of cost-savings) but others are shorter. I want to believe that those with oversight will decided to step-in soon & enough of a realist to recognize that they might not.

A number of people who run those resources were contractors. In December, some of them were transitioned into Federal employee status to protect them. Unfortunately, this means they were probably on the list of employees with probationary status. I am trying to find out what actually happened.

Texas is having a measles outbreak and it's growing fast. How big could the outbreak get? If we assume it stays in Gaines County, an uncontrolled outbreak could still mean up to almost 5000 cases in the next 3 months!
