frankly i hope the fact that Brian Wilson can't write an ending to a song is the only hint we get to the secret that he is in fact immortal and will outlive humanity

hell yeah! Max Tundra is a musical mad genius and i cannot wait to see if/when he releases that next album

if you want a rec for glitchy pop that sorta foreshadowed hyperpop and other similar genres, give Max Tundra - Parallax Error Beheads You a chance. some of the most insane pop music i've ever heard, in the best way possible

ah, fair. i never listened to brat so i don't rly have purchase on that but the new Jane was Fine[tm], i get why she made it instead of the pop album that Flash/Magic hinted at but it got pretty stale pretty quickly which is unfortunate

i would make a "give me your skin" joke but i feel like the setup to make it work would either put me on a "to disappear" list or put me in the draft registry and i don't know which is worse at this point

what kinds of hyperpop/decon-club have you been listening to? could just be that the artists aren't doing it the way you like yr deconstructed club/hyperpop/etc

the everything around them refuses to allow them to reach out of the place they were placed in at birth; an economical caste system. The Great Gatsby isn't about that. it's just about rich people being miserable because they never learned how to enjoy life and dying on the inside because of it

a critique of the American Dream starts and ends with somebody being born into poverty, living in poverty, and dying in poverty despite their best efforts to reach outside of their means and "succeed" by the rules of society; their life having ended before it even started because [...]

the story's status as The Killer of the American Dream is so overwrought and bullshit because the only thing it kills is its characters. the American Dream does not die because one man got far and then died, it dies by not even having started

there's a million things that happen throughout the story, all attempting to weave together some coherent thread of The American Dream[tm] but it just ends up as a pile of mismatched strings that blast you in the face with their constant incessance of importance

i just find it so pointless. the narrator is a voyeur whose actions have no real consequence on the story, the main characters are as basic as a flat slab of concrete and more often than not don't have any depth outside their One Defining Trait [ Tom's a dick, Daisy's a ditz, Gatsby's desperate ]

the fact that i read that shitty fucking novel twice and didn't recognize who that was should be a statement to the book's quality in it of itself

i don't know how but somehow they made the "meaning" of the song even more vague than it being about "not having knocked on wood"
also i was always told that song was about STDs anyway so i'm just wondering how they've managed to avoid that
