One of the simplest acts of rebellion you can do is to ride a bike instead of drive wherever possible. Choke the oil barons and automakers. she/her/they

Instantly remembered Bill from Guess Who? when I saw this image.

Trump declaring ceasefire is like Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy.

Nice! I just planted a bunch of flower seeds with the kiddo yesterday. Fingers crossed they grow before the birds intervene.

Yes! I keep it in my secure garage at home and my office has bike parking on our floor. If I go out, I double lock it + a cable through the wheels.

Ebike left, cruiser (with Sparkles' bike) right. The ebike enabled me to ride through my pregnancy (36km/day, 5days/week), and then it hauled Sparkles in a trailer, and then she sat over the back wheel on a cushion with handlebars. Now she wants to race against it.

My main rig is a Trek Verve+ ebike. It gets used for groceries, commuting, and just about anything more than 5km away. Then I have a single speed beach cruiser for school runs, pubs, and local short trips where I don't need to carry much. Road bike for occasional zoomies.

I missed that experience in American high school (my joy of reading was killed by several other books instead) so I'm enjoying it as a quick read now.

I guess I timed by first read of "Tomorrow, When the War Began" well.

You inspired me to post my own ride this morning, thank you 😊 bsky.app/profile/just...

I was writing rent checks up until the month before I moved here. Tapping a card on EFTPOS was like magic, and I was shocked when I didn't have to sign receipts (or enter a PIN!) for small credit card purchases. Knowing how to drive stick actually came in handy for me once! Once!!

Every chance I get, I rip up a chunk of green lawn and replace it with a native plant. Less to mow, more diversity to grow.

This was also a proud mum moment because it's good to know that Sparkles has friends at school. This kiddo wasn't even in her year level!

America was straight to DVD.

I've sold low pressure systems to Los Angeles, Albequerque, and Kansas City, and by gum, I've put them on the map!

This is a mum who's doing it all on her own. If I can do this one little thing for her, and help her kids become more confident and independent riders, then that's a better result than I'll get from shouting at the local council every 6 weeks.

I showed her how to use an adjustable wrench to raise the seats and also remove the training wheels. Showed her how to use the bike pump and and told her to check the tyres once a week. Also to check later today if any of them go flat again. "How do I fix that?" "Don't worry, just bring it to me."

I've been here for 10 years! This was my first federal vote (missed the last one by a few months), but I got citizenship just in time for the Yes vote.

Only ALP and Greens had actual humans out to represent in my neighbourhood. ALP had 6ish people inc. our deputy mayor; Greens had 1 fmr candidate; and LNP had 2 torn down signs and a box full of coffee-soaked how-to-vote cards.

I didn't arrive at my voting place until after 2 thanks to a packed family schedule of AusKick followed by a birthday party at a too-loud play centre. 40 minutes in queue, did my vote in 2, and then came outside to find the sausage stand fully packed up by 3pm. 😭 I'll go to Bunnings tmrw.

Go stand outside for 5 minutes. Sunny, but still cool, so when you come back inside you'll be happy about the dimmer light and moderate temperature.

Probably. But also I'm definitely going to get a pack. The reviews are excellent!
