Want to come work with me on XCTest and Swift Testing? jobs.apple.com/en-us/detail...

👋 from the Swift team, now on Bluesky!

Learn more about how the team behind Things, an award-winning personal task manager, rewrote their backend in Swift with a threefold reduction in compute costs: www.swift.org/blog/how-swi... @vapor.codes

👏👏👏

This is revealing: Asked o1 on chatgpt.com to "[...] please count all the cells. The ones with numbers and the ones without. Be super precise. Once you counted, count again and only reply if you're 100% sure" with this image. The image contains 8 x 22 =176 cells. o1 "counts" a whopping 2.4M cells.

I LOL'd > ”hallucination” is what we call it when LLMs get code wrong; “engineering” is what we call it when people do. fly.io/blog/vscode-...

@jaleel.bsky.social showing off how to extend the distributed actor cluster using persistence and virtual actors! Good stuff there that we should polish it and release! #swift #fosdem

Last session of the day in the Swift dev room at @fosdem.bsky.social Let’s learn about distributed actors with @jaleel.bsky.social #swift #opensource

Haha, I appreciate the address :)

Nice one @kto.so!

It's an excellent effort to bring SwiftUI syntax and style to other platforms!

Go go go @mikaelacaron.com! Swift + AWS + Lambda at #FOSDEM Swift DevRoom

Embedded Swift being discussed right now by Eric Bariaux. We've also been using Embedded Swift recently, and it's nice to see others in this space working with this too.

More about Embedded Swift, and now Lilly Seay is who is going to lead us! #FOSDEM

Lilly Seay talks about Embedded Swift as an electrical engineer. Really touches some sore topics when it comes to embedded development, and how Swift can help address that.

More from Rauhul coming to Swift Embedded Examples! Check it out! #FOSDEM

I love the fact we have a Swift-SDK generator, and Euan's talk shows how easy it is to get started. github.com/swiftlang/sw...

@david-swift.bsky.social is talking about native cross-platform UIs. He's also wrote this amazing blog post last year. www.swift.org/blog/adwaita...

Meet the new member of the swiftlang GitHub org - swift-build. It’s the build system used by Xcode, supports Linux and Windows, and starts a new roadmap for more powerful unified builds for SwiftPM on all platforms. GitHub.com/swiftlang/swift-build

OpenAPI is one of the main two ways I build my APIs. Learn about the tools I use in this talk by @czechboy0.dev and Si Beaumont!

Now, let’s go up in the levels, from hardware level to servers level. @0xtim.bsky.social will talk about Server-side Swift at #FOSDEM Swift DevRoom!

Swift Build System is open source! https://github.com/swiftlang/swift-build #FOSDEM25 #FOSDEM

Euan Harris demonstrated building containers using SwiftPM at @serversideswift.info last year. Now he's got a follow-up on the same topic! #FOSDEM

I feel moved to write about one of my technological heroes, possibly the most influential on my youth as an 8-bit hacker: a trans woman named Sophie Wilson. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie_...

Swift devroom at #FOSDEM starting up! Lot’s of incredible talks AAAND a special start?! Come visit the livestream as well. fosdem.org/2025/schedul...

This is how efficient Swift on the Server is - this is the smaller Fargate task size available for ECS on AWS - we're yet to break 2% utilisation!

There's lots of #Swift content at #FOSDEM this year, starting with Doug Gregor on the main track at 12:00 CET talking about Swift's incremental adoption approach to memory safety. If you didn't make it to Brussels, you can stream it here: fosdem.org/2025/schedul...

Up next at #fosdem in building K! “Incremental Memory Safety in an Established Software Stack. Lessons learned from Swift” #swiftlang

Nice to see a heavy team behind of Swift in person at #FOSDEM

Liked this article: www.ben-evans.com/benedictevan... About AI but neither hyping nor dooming it. Discussing its strengths (probabilistic problems) & weaknesses (deterministic problems). Plus: Disruption (& AI): New tech introducing new, important value systems rather than excelling at old ones

getting the swag together and running last minute errands - let’s goooo! #fosdem #swiftlang

Don’t miss the #swift dev room at #fosdem today! Just above the main track in building K, floor 4!

ok the results of the terminal survey I ran a while back on here are up! here's the link: jvns.ca/terminal-sur... (I ran two copies of the same survey on both Mastodon & Bluesky, there's a link to the mastodon version on the page)

The video went out, and it is doing well! #ballbike #3dprinted #vehicle #machine #experimental youtu.be/ZVFB2g25OkM

It really is!
