But I bet you there were lots and lots of people who think of themselves as "real tough guys" there.

Happy to have enlightened! It's always brought me a little joy, as, I suspect, it did whoever came up with the idea of using it in the TNG episode.

I always wondered how many people knew it was joke recreating the original series scene with Scottie in the role of being offered "green" instead of being the one to offer it. I'd only known cause my dad often had Trek reruns on.

I’m sure I will! That cover is so nice I might have to get a physical copy eventually, I love owning physical copies of novellas.

Did you know it would be coloured? Surprise vinyl colour is the best! (Ever since learning that vinyl is clear and that black vinyl was itself always a colour choice I've often wondered why coloured vinyl wasn't always a thing. It's so much fun!)

Come on, it's not like anything major has gone wrong in the last 100 years since the last one we cracked open.

Community Osmosis perhaps?

I think my favorite part is when he tries to invite the audience to sing with him and it sounds like no one does - if feels to me like no one was willing to intrude on the magic he was performing in the moment.

I've only got 5, but Demon Knight is one of them so if I watch The People Under the Stairs this weekend I can at least get a one line bingo.

This is one of those songs I tend to mentally "collect" every version of if I can find and this one is new to me - thanks! (Personal fave version is also live, though not on video. Jeff Buckley sounding transcendent: www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1uZ...)

I just googled Tennessee National Guard lays down shield and found a bunch of stories with videos and pictures about it from a Black Lives Matters protest in the summer of 2020 (so actually 4 and a half years ago). Anything like that would have news coverage.

I can just imagine these guys sitting around having a coms strategy session and someone saying “hey, do you think they don’t get its a protection racket? Lets try spelling it out for them, that should get them in line.” and everyone else shouting “genius!”

I have one very specific complaint about that movie and it's just that it guts the ending of Aliens and I'm not fond of sequels that essentially "ruin" the earned emotional ending of what came before. Viewed as it's own thing I agree it gets way more trashing than it deserves.

lol, I saw this one a few days ago, and I love the turtle action, but, I can't help but get really frustrated as I watch with one fundamental question: he can clearly lift and move this water dish so why doesn't take it elsewhere to clean it instead of doing this dance?!?!?

I should say - it does seem to allow for solo play, but it sounds like it's designed so that different characters abilities can create synergies that make for more fun/powerful/interesting stuff than a person can get solo and, I suspect the triple play will be where most of the effort went?

I'm hoping I've read some bad info on it. I mean, it's kind of a neat idea to create 3-player-specific synergies. It's an interesting size of players, big enough to feel multiplayer, small enough for a few friends to play together, but to force that is annoying. And no cross-play always sucks.

If it were cross-platform and 2 player I might well pick up 2 copies of it to play with the kid. Or, if it were primarily single-player with extra multiplayer content like Elden Ring then I'd probably get a copy. But it sounds like the best part of the game experience is designed around 3 player.

Well, now I'm embarrassed to say, as someone who uses garlic all the time (and scoffs at most recipe's suggest amount) that I don't think I've ever much paid attention to what *kind* of garlic I was grabbing/using.

What is something about garlic you know that people are usually surprised to learn?

Ha! I haven't done much birding in the last couple years but those big doofuses are one I'll be so proud of getting a shot of when I do. They are SO flighty. Every time I see one it's gone before I can get the shot. Little woodpeckers basically don't care how close I am, but those ones - gone!

Yeah, I mean, technically I've stepped into lakes with pike and muskie much bigger than that, but I've also seen what some piranha much smaller can do, lol. But yeah, the ocean is awesome in the classic definition of that word.

And now for something completely different: #nowspinning “Black Sabbath” by Black Sabbath.
