I appreciate this response from Ed Yong on why he requests that people mask at his events. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/m...

There's something especially frustrating about all the search providers building LLMs. In addition to all the general reasons it's harmful, theres's the hypocrisy of it. Organizations that exist to help people stay informed building disinformation machines. Utterly shameful.

Remember how in FF8 you could sing into a river on the world map and a creepy shadow man would tell you about a burned out village surrounded by forests and then you would find it and it’s just ruins you can’t explore and this has no greater meaning or quest, just tragedy Games should be weirder

Surely this new video won't make me seem like a crank. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEJp...

Some great folks have thrown in some money. We still need a bit more to make sure we can cover a few devs. Thanks y'all.

NEMA unveils a standard for bidirectional EV charging

I did not approve this.

Worth watching. (Its about more than just Wolf3D)

So enough money to make several *hundred* Sony 1st party prestige games, to say nothing of mid budget or indie development.

Watched a review of a foldable phone arguing that we now have a device that fulfills the promise of the format. But it's still an LED external screen! Put an e-paper screen on the outside and now it's an e-reader, too! We need to get out of the cage of thinking EVERY screen must be fast+colorful.

Passed the new Silverado on the street. I'm 5'11"/1.8m. It's roofline is taller than I am. What are we doing here, people?

Some articles about Pacific Drive selling 1m include a misguided statement about the game being made by a team of under 20 people and I wanna clear that up: the internal team is now under 20 but was larger during development, and that doesn’t include the wonderful partners we worked with. (1/3)

Proud to say we will be launching the Mars Vice Demo next week during the Next Fest, a few days before we launch on the 6th! Wishlist to get notified and to help us share all the news about this awesome* game! store.steampowered.com/app/1886910/... *Some bias #steamnextfest #indiegame #furry

Post a meme made by you

Tonight's Noir City Seattle double bill, introduced by me and Rosemarie: the quintessential B-movie DETOUR (1945) and a new 4K digital restoration of PHANTOM LADY (1944). At SIFF Cinema Downtown starting at 6PM.

The same people who refused to acknowledge that Elon Musk gave a Nazi salute, are I presume going to come up with some similar narrative to refuse to acknowledge that Trump is calling himself a king.

Anyone who thinks ideation is a bottleneck in game design, in game development, is not qualified to be involved in or have influence over the process.

as someone who managed to make it work: holy shit it's SO HARD. I was, and still am, working 3 different day jobs. It took 2 years for Slasher U to make $10k and I was crunching every single weekend. I still work a lotta weekends. Paying the OG Steam $100 fee was a huge obstacle on launch.

Civ 7 putting everyone on blast in the group slack channel.

The bang for buck on doing this is incredible. Can't recommend it enough.

Strong, resilient systems are not efficient systems, and vice versa.

I don't think gamers really understand how bad things are in games right now. You won't really feel The consequences of all those layoffs for another few years. But I see so many devs that are just done with the whole industry.

Ink Console - an e-reader/handheld console hybrid for interactive fiction and choose-your-own-adventure games, with an open source dev software - is coming to CrowdSupply. (Follow the project on CrowdSupply)

If you don't know what to do right now to support devs, write a review on every game you loved last year. Just a thumbs up and one sentence is enough.

Not to mention, higher scoring games tend to be more mainstream, because they're more legible to critics. Sometimes, something outside of mainstream is exactly what you want. Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm generally scored 6/10, and the fans of that game I meet are by far the most enthusiastic.

This is part of the problem with putting guys like Richard Spencer on CNN and doing soft-focus "nazi next door" features -- it normalizes this stuff. 15 years ago this would have been an earth-shattering scandal and Washington would have ground to a halt over it.

Making music. Playing an instrument, composing at my computer, hell, singing in the shower! Such a joyful, such a fulfilling act!

This excellent interactive tutorial on misleading data visualizations explores the idea of a "counter chart" — the graph you draw in response to refute a misleading claims flowingdata.com/projects/dis...

I have rage quit a game when I *wasn't* able to go back and get the collectible. Don't do that.
