Non-masked ppl often assume masked ppl are running around scared & paranoid. Uh nope, just like seatbelts, it's not paranoia just stats based. Only for self and others, not self alone. (Which also confuses ppl, since freedom etc.)
She shared with me.
My neighbor with myeloma (dx 9 mo post covid infxn) told me 'my oncologist says idh to mask' when I highly encouraged her to do so. Unfortunately she's not doing well nor masking while on chemo.
It kills cats at extreme rates, they die the most horrible, rabies-like deaths and there's no treatment. I can't lose my cats.
First id have to use public transit again.

Wearing a mask does not protect you from airborne viruses - otherwise wearing a mask would eliminate the summer misery called hay fever.
COVID wonβt disappear. It is endemic like the coronaviruses that came before it, two of which we now know as the common cold. We can acknowledge there is a tradeoff.
For me, on balance, Iβm comfortable with the risk now. Masked social interaction is undeniably stunted. Tradeoffs.
