Amateurs.

Blocked at the last stage of the #googleio 2025 puzzle… and the app has reset all my progression when I came back. At least, even with the flu, I am not so bad at solving puzzles… Your turn now: io.google/2025/puzzle

Hum. #Flutter is really nice! Works well on multiple platforms, and #Dart is really cool to use. Pretty cool framework to handle multiple platforms using one language and one setup.

The comparison is a bit unfair as Aaron Swartz has downloaded the documents from an open network that did not require any authentication, otherwise I agree that evil people are not punished. Fuck Zuck.

Mood.

TIL that Google Assistant is by default "learning" from all the apps on your phone. Instructions to disable it in the link. You have to do it for each individual app, and after you do it it takes you back to the top of the list of apps. Classic dark pattern programming. kind.social/@EnfysBook/1...

Async in Rust smells really bad, oh my god. The implementation and ALL implications of your project just to support async…

Soooo… seems like LimitedRunGames have been caught violating the GPL license of PCSX with the release of Tomba! Special Edition 😬 Does not seem a good future for their Carbon Engine, especially if FSF will investigate on this www.reddit.com/r/emulation/...

Think about this people: if the US model and those « bro-tech-companies » were really valuable, they would not be shaken by a single Chinese company and an open-source AI model… this is only the sign that US economy & industry is REALLY inside an enormous bubble. 🍿

Finally a good news! 🙌

If you are truly passionate about Programming do not work as a Software Engineer in the foreseeable future. It's gonna drain all the passion and soul out of you. Keep it a hobby until the market and culture around it changes. In fact you are gonna be the change.

Interesting that US ventures & companies are panicking with the venue of #DeepSeek… especially after this (stupid) 500B investment. I am happy to see a company that spent 90% less computing power to achieve way better results, and open-source. Coming from China it made me laugh. US are so f***ed :)

I am late to the party: « happy birthday Android Studio 🎂 »! I still remember getting my hands on the 1.0 when I was at University, hacking to get my « Tron cycles » game working on… The adventure was frustrating sometimes, but AS got better & better after each release. Well done Android people 👏

Only a few weeks till #FOSDEM! Make sure to plan to check out the #Swift track and/or the Swift talks the main and FreeJava tracks! Swift DevRoom: fosdem.org/2025/schedul... See you there! #oss

I've been publishing exclusively on itch so far and was expecting to keep it that way at first, but to be honest discoverability has steadily deteriorated in the last 5 years. Now I'm planning to move to Steam, hoping to get at least the same number of players I used to when I started on itch...

Everyone: RIP TikTok! OHNO! Ouin-ouin. Me: « Mars after Midnight » on #Playdate is excellent, but nobody knows it. #BuyAPlaydate

What?! Nintendo was working on Switch 2?! NO WAY!!! What a surprise!

What a joke.

Let me do a quick recap with you guys: it is not because someone changes its haircut that it is not an asshole anymore.

In a few conversations, I've run into people throwing out "how is procedurally-generated game content any different from AI-generated stuff??" I have an answer: Designing Procedural generation algorithms requires an extremely advanced and well-honed understanding of the content and WHY it works.

New blog post: « The AI Boredom », on why I am not as excited as all the tech industry right now about bullsh… mmh, #AI. Feel free to comment & share! www.carette.xyz/posts/the_ai...
