My biggest challenge was moving away from the "might is right" mindset to giving my dogs the right to make choices. I now know when my dogs are choosing to train with me I'm doing it right.

This is one of my students building a CER to the mat. She barely has time to get the mat down on the ground! The end goal is to have the puppy willing go to the mat, lay down and stay until released. Don't you just love the enthusiasm!

Shaping; positively reinforcing successive approximations towards a target behaviour. The real secret is conditioning a positive emotional response to a desired behaviour. What gets rewarded gets repeated. That applies to both the human and the dog. If both are having fun we are more likely to do it
