llama 4, havent played with much. llama 3 wasnt significantly better in any way for me to care. havent heard anything impressive about llama 4. oh, deepseek still has the best chain of thought. they dont have a voice mode on the app or the web tho, which sucks

what kind of answer would a Matt Yglesias hater say?

best way I've heard it put is that there is a tiny difference between us and gorillas and we've trained LLMs on that tiny difference. The part of us that's the same as gorillas is what makes us conscious/have emotions

I think we will inherently have much, much less difference in the actions/'lives' of bots vs humans. And, when I'm talking to a person, I know they're someone who's had a lot of experiences and feelings that are actually deeply similar to me - and so we can actually have a mutual connection

this is also missing the mark imo - it's not on purpose - it's because you have been calculated to fit into a demographic. maybe people just dont understand how algorithms actually work

It's odd that I never hear the clear effect of recommendation algorithms brought up in statistics like this

it caught it though, no? is that not a Meta Community Note?

Seems obviously bad, since it will be used to manipulate and addict people, the same way social media is now? Also, I don't see how this is a hypothetical, since for most people in cities it's their current reality and has been for years
