The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans to cull nearly half a million invasive barrred owls in the spring of 2025 on the West Coast in order to stymie their invasion into spotted owl territory. The plan will be over a 30 year period. Over 200 organizations oppose the kill plan.

When an AP journalist was not allowed in the White House because he would not acknowledge 47's Gulf of America, all indicators are that fascism has arrived in America. The news is head-spinning & sometimes makes for shallow breathing from anxiety.

Later read of 2 brothers attacked by a mountain lion in area area northeast of Sacramento in El Dorado County, CA. One killed, the other badly injured. They did everything recommended to save themselves. Mountain lions are protected in California, but this one was deemed a danger & was euthanized.

It is a lovely hike. In October, to my complete surprise, a mountain lion crossed the path about 20 yards in front of me. It looked to be a young one about 5-6'nose to tail. It was in a prowl stance, didn't notice me (phew).
