“No right is safe in the new legal regime the Court creates.” –Justice Sonia Sotomayor. One of the most chilling sentences I have ever read.

Vaccination schedules on the CDC website have already started changing under RFK Jr. So we published a guide to the evidence-based vaccine recommendations in place *before* all 17 members of the advisory panel were abruptly dismissed by the new admin. www.scientificamerican.com/article/see-... 🧪

Just checking in on the Bezos protests in Venice… www.bbc.com/news/article...

In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done. My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it. I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.

Zohran Mamdani winning the Democratic primary in New York is great news but you must protect him and fight for him because the campaign against him (even from within the Democratic Party) will be massive.

“If a socialist can wrest power from the servants of oligarchy in the financial capital of the world — well, my friends around this country, around this WORLD, what can you do to take the power back from them where YOU live?” — @attackerman.bsky.social #NYC #ZohranMamdani

Oh my god, I think he’s going to get it. This gives me so much hope.

You’ve got to be kidding me.

This thread is both very good news and something the rest of us can learn from.

This.

"For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences"

As someone who lived in Venice for years, it gives me a weird sort of pride to see Venetians gives Bezos a dose of reality. The protest (6/28) looks amazing as a kind of counter-party planned in four locations with music and installations. They’ll be protesting in the squares, alleys, and canals.

“The liberation of Iranian people from the dictatorship ruling the country can only be achieved through the struggle of the masses and autonomous social movements.”

I am begging people not to look to the NYT for coverage of what's happening. The BBC, Le Monde, Ajazeera and others will have more truthful coverage.

They have made the world living hell for no reason whatsoever. People will ask why this happened in a decade and there will be tremendous effort to make it more complicated than “they were evil, stupid, and bored”

This is important for Khalil, but for all of us. It is proof that Trump is not all-powerful or inevitable. Fighting back works. Don't let his bluster scare you. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...

I’m looking forward to watching this. I started re-reading Arendt after the election and I think what I find the most gutting is knowing that if Dem leadership paid *any* attention to these lessons from history, they’d actually understand what’s needed in this moment.

A list of newspapers that are proving to be pro-democracy:

Another way to identify which papers actively oppose democracy is by looking at their coverage of trans rights. Any suggestion that certain identities don’t deserve the same rights as others is a direct attack on the entire principle of civil rights.

I am privileged to announce the publication of the Anti-Autocracy Handbook: sks.to/autocracy 1/12

If you're not placing today's ruling against gender-affirming care for trans youth in the context of John Roberts' lifelong campaign to suck the life out of the Fourteenth Amendment, and equality for actual humans more broadly, you're doing it wrong. Here, for @vanityfair.com, I attempt to do that.

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

Absolutely phenomenal photo by Carlin Stiehl.

the story today is of a profoundly low energy military parade being met with millions of americans in nationwide protests denouncing the dictatorial pretensions of the president

The day started with tragedy with political violence in MN and instead of being scared, neighbors SHOWED UP to stand together at No Kings Twin Cities. We packed the Capitol Mall all the way to the Cathedral. Estimate 80,000+ right now. So proud of our state. #nokings #indivisible

BILLINGS FUCKING MONTANA NO KINGS-ING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN Yeah, I’m weepy

AG Ellison staying at the No Kings rally despite being on the assassin’s hit list to tell the crowd to not be stopped, to keep marching is exactly what I needed in this moment.

Despite warnings from the law enforcement not to attend today’s No Kings rally after this mornings shooting of Minnesota lawmakers with the killer on the lose, the No Kings Rally is happening at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.

Do you know how badly you have to screw up as a Republican to get this kind of turnout in IDAHO? #NOKINGS

For everyone who ever said red states wanted * this * . There are tons of people who didn't.

Talked to so many people who were at the first protests of their lives today. Ex-Republicans, introverts, 90-year-olds and 3-year-olds. This was at an intersection in a 60,000 person town. Haven’t felt hope like this in my life.

The revolution is full of 60-year-old women who love their trans kids.

Hello from Berlin where a few hundred Americans are outside the embassy, currently reading aloud from the Declaration of Independence. #nokings

If you're going to spend some time outside today, it's important to know your rights, just in case. #NoKings I will see you there! www.aclu.org/know-your-ri...

If you attend a No Kings protest tomorrow in Texas, Washington, or New York, and you are arrested, please call or text 432.279.0411 with your name, location, and the phrase 1A911.

Accounts are circulating protest advice that’s going to get people maimed or killed I made a primer going over what to expect, how to navigate the environment safely, your rights, what to bring / not bring, and how to be prepared should things get ugly jaredyatessexton.substack.com/p/protest-pr...

He loves Les Miserables. His Big Boy Birthday Parade was inspired by Bastille Day. And you just know that if anyone ever tried to explain what happened during the French Revolution—and to the king in particular—he’d just clap with delight like a toddler. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/12/u...
