It's better to say who to vote for rather than who not to vote for if that's your goal. If every second sign in a neighbourhood said "Don’t vote Nats/Lab" thosw parties still fill peoples minds. Better to fill the street (or social media) with ‘Greens and TPM for real left wing change’ #nzpol

Yup I mentioned in the video that you have to be honest and staunchly left in the video. If you don't (like Labour reversing the Capital Gains Tax) then your message is meaningless because then people will just feel betrayed.

Yep, and it's time to take the gloves off.

As you note, some folks seem to ignore the many things that led us here – from Western-led coups of Iran's govt, to US invasions in the Middle East & elsewhere, to providing arms & funding for genocide as other Western nations either backed those moves or looked away. It’s not uniquely tied to Trump

Hard agree. It beggars belief how few Americans ostensibly on the left fail to recognise just how thoroughly they've been brainwashed and that the issues they're facing are systemic, and not just the result of a bad guy being voted in.

Also hope the No Kings vibe applies outside of their country - rather than carrying on like they are King of the World.

pity the current labour party has taken the 'lets not cause a fuss' approach

"National's bungling..."
Now why does that seem so eerily familiar...🤔

A lot of them knew what they were dealing with and didn't mince words (guessing at least some of it was bc many were not long out of a war with literal RW fascists who almost took over the world with their hideous worldview).
Since then, lessons have been lost, language perverted, "optics" reigns.

Animated GIF from the final scene of the Planet of the Apes movie. A ruined Statue of Liberty lies partially buried in sand on a desolate beach as waves crash nearby. In the foreground, a man stands beside a horse, realizing he's been on a future, post-apocalyptic Earth all along.

We need radical change. Not milquetoast neoliberalism. We need the opposition to commit to rolling back most of the policies the right have implemented, instead of only rolling back "some policies" #nzpol

By doing so, you uphold a system that ultimately benefits the right. As budgets shrink and taxes are cut, and not drastically rolled back the right is effectively privatizing the left’s role. They are pushing the left to rely increasingly on private funds to cover what should be publicly funded.

Two things can be right & wrong at the same time.
Voting can be powerful, and still not enough.
The system can be broken, and still worth challenging.
People can be disconnected, and still care deeply.
Non-voters don’t need shame.
They need a reason.
A why that speaks to them, not at them.

She even helped Jacinda Ardern win in 2017 with only 7 weeks until the election when she became leader. I made a similar point about messaging with communism earlier. Not to make a statement on it but how to message it better.

I'm not talking about ethics, or making a statement on democracy (as far as I'm concerned we don't live in a true representative democracy) or anything like that I'm purely talking about messaging which is based on proven experience from Anat Shenker-Osorio who has helped elections around the world

🌿 Now for those of you who know the actual answer you can see how powerful framing can be and why people like NZ Labour have no reason to continuing chase the center, they need left wing policies with better framing.

🌿 Neoliberalism “If you can work you should work” (from each according to ability) “welfare is only for those who actually need it” (to each according to need)
Or
Keynesian welfare state social democracy, full employment "from each according to ability" welfare state "to each according to need" 🌿
