I recently re-watched the entire show, and the only thing I fear is ever watching it again.

You know the phrase "Not my circus, not my monkeys"?
This isn't my circus, and I'm making myself an anxious wreck over it.

I'm just exhausted and removing myself.
I jeep getting involved in this conversation and then I keep feeling anxious for doing so.

Admittedly? With the right director, I could see a really phenomenal remake of 0079 that could truly benefit new potential Gundam fans who struggle with the age (and availability) of the original.
Not that young folks shouldn't give the original a try regardless, but... y'know.

I was frustrated with the arcane stuff because it almost never tied well into the class stuff. Half the show felt sort of disconnected to the other half, and escalated so way too quickly.
I liked Mel, but her *whole story* feels like setup for a later story we never got.

I fell in love with these characters, their struggles, their environments, their struggles.
But nope! Gotta have a APOCALYPTIC THREAT to deal with. Gotta sideline all the ground level struggle and character work out the window to focus on VIKTOR'S bullshit.

I just can't agree.
They crafted an entire first season based around class warfare with a slow but focused burn, with hints of the arcane, only for the arcane elements to completely take over and dominate the story in the second season, completely fumbling the character writing.

Yep. A strike is a strike is a strike.
Is it a union sanctioned strike? No. But it's still *a strike.*

Good. Don't need that kind of bullshit in my notifications anyway.

"I disagree, I think the pacing hurt the premise."
"You have some real shitty takes."
Grow the fuck up.

Wow.
Fuck you too.

I disagree that it's "random" or "misplaced."
I also think that the show fails at its own premise. The hotel becomes a backdrop for the larger story; everything Charlie is fighting for re: the hotel and what it provides gets almost no screen time.
That's a problem.

Saying "The problem was pacing, not premise!" when the pacing was the main contributor to the premise being totally fucked.

I'm just saying, "everyone loves it!" is not a good reason to stop criticizing a thing.

People enjoying a thing makes it not bad/heavily flawed?

I actually agree.
It forced two seasons of plot into one. It *flirts* with its own premise because it's so obsessed with telling the bigger, grander story.

I love OSP, but... if a show needs a whole deep dive to "redeem" it, I think it failed on its own merits?

The first season was an action packed but character rich story about class warfare.
That all gets either glossed over or abandoned when the focus of the plot becomes the arcane and the existential threat that's slowly growing from it.
And the character writing takes a noaedive.

Coerced consent is a thing. So is uninformed consent. And then there's whether or not it's ethical in the first place, consensual or not.
