Lots of content out there about open science in psychology in terms of science *content*. Where is the conversation about open science *tooling* in psychology: I want to learn more about the research platforms, tools, ecosystems people are trying to build in?

Thanks for all your interest in sharing cognitive psych teaching! There're 3 ongoing 🧵's now: 1️⃣ syllabus & general tips 👉 tinyurl.com/ktbrk7mm 2️⃣ useful videos 👉 tinyurl.com/z43hecdz 3️⃣ demos 👉 tinyurl.com/5n7pkp38 Check out these 🧵's & pls share your favorite resources! I'll share a complied list.

📣 Excited to share our new preprint: "Measuring Perceived Structural Constraints on Choice: The Structural Awareness Scale" (SAS) osf.io/preprints/os... We developed SAS to capture how people perceive 🧱 structural barriers on their choices in areas such as sustainability or healthy eating.

Increasingly believe that this should be required reading before anyone is allowed to do science. I spend an *inordinate* amount of time these days citing this piece and explaining that RCTs are not instrinsically and exclusively causal. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Behavioural task reliability is the bane of my life right now. Anyone else? I am reading this great preprint (recently recommended by reviewer) which is tackling this issue in the reinforcement learning literature osf.io/preprints/ps...

🙋‍♀️ 👋🚨 Two of my grad students had their NIH Diversity Supplements abruptly cancelled. We plan to appeal. We'd love to coordinate with other folks w/ cancelled grants. Does this already exist? If not, could we start a Slack, email or text thread, or shared Google Drive to share appeals & strategize?

Call for papers now out. www.psychologicalscience.org/publications...

An important read that describes the devastating impacts of these cancellations. Just an astonishing level of callousness and disrespect for the researchers whose grants/fellowships were terminated, the important work they were doing, and the rigorous process via which these grants were awarded.

I posted this article about my student's grant cancellation this morning. A few minutes ago, I learned that another very talented student in my lab had their funding cancelled too. I'm heartbroken -- not just about my students, but the future of science. darbysaxbe.substack.com/p/my-student...

An interesting discussion in writing group today has me wondering: What are people's norms for students doing *their own* study vs part of the lab's ongoing work? Their own = they come up with the idea themselves Curious about RA vs honours thesis vs grad students here too!

Friends who are Psychonomics Fellows - does anyone have the capacity to sponsor an extra abstract? Three of my students plan on giving posters, but I can only officially sponsor two 😓

👋 anyone with successful (or well done) #MSCA or #VENI postdoctoral fellowship applications they are willing to share for me to see examples? Will trade for cat pics 📸😹 🧪 #EU #Netherlands #AcademicChatter

If you teach cognitive psychology or related topics & are willing to share your favorite teaching resources (e.g., demos, videos), please reply to/quote this post, tag me in a new post, or send me email. I'll compile them, share the list, & keep updating it this summer. Let's inspire each other!

This is the only acceptable way to write on a sunny Friday afternoon. Also, conference posters on sport fabric make great park blankets.

I teach an undergrad cognitive psychology class. I've been thinking about assembling useful teaching resources (demos, videos, etc.) from other cogpsy instructors & sharing them in a single place. If there's enough interest here, I'll make a separate post & ask you to share your favorite materials.

Oregon summer is insane. So lucky to have this in my backyard ☀️

While I was unfortunately unable to travel to Belgium for the conference, I have uploaded the recording+slides+code for my #SAA2025 talk on multilevel multiple imputation for EMA research here: osf.io/xjg24/files/...

This is vanilla good science. What makes this a "tall order" in the field of emotion? The field appears to have a rift/gap between its data and theories. Why? What special considerations about emotion (if any) led to the gap? (From Adolophs/Anderson press.princeton.edu/books/hardco...).

This framing is all wrong Our international students are not a “crucial funding source” They are our STUDENTS They are the reason we EXIST We teach STUDENTS

📣very thrilled to see the new, open access (!) edition of the Handbook of Social Psychology is now online! With 50 chapters, this is an amazing collective effort brought to everyone by @danielgilbert.bsky.social, Susan Fiske, @elijfinkel.bsky.social, and Wendy Mendes and Situational Press. 👏🎉🙏

Since 1954, "The Handbook of Social Psychology" has been the field’s most authoritative reference work, and today is the launch of the 6th edition with 50 new chapters by 100 leading scholars. Best news? The HSP is now an open-access public resource—free to read, download, and share. the-hsp.com
