Unfortunately the only other shiba they have available for adoption is a bad match for our house. High energy and doesn't like cats. The high energy weer could deal with though it's not preferred, but our elderly cat will fuck up a dog that won't leave her alone.

I know you know, but for others, there's a known phenomenon in political science. They call it a "controlled opposition party."
Basically there's a fake party, like pro wrestling, whose job it is to make it look like there's democracy, but in the end the ruling party always wins. Like here.

And that's actually a good thing. [Sharing in case this might be helpful to anyone else.] The regime hasn't succeeded in taking away our righteous rage. We will use that to continue to fight for a different world than this one.
