Made in Abyss. I expected some dark fantasy, but Nanachi and Mitty broke me. So sad.

Totally understand that. Yet another reason I'm doing my own! I want something functional and modular that can have flavor added.

I would say 8th had a decent amount, but was definitely on the way towards simplistic. For me, flavor is special rules that are not necessarily about power, but theme. Like Ork Stormboyz sometimes exploding because their jump packs are rickety.

It used to. The current version is lacking that at a unit level and tries to make up for it with piles if command abilities that are hard to keep track of. Each army used to have unique abilities, but then they were giving the same ability different names in different armies. It's maddening.

Yes. At it's core, OPR is solid, but I feel that it's lacking in flavor.

I mean...there's a reason I want a game to play with the models that's not 40k!

Only on a surface level. Really, the mechanics are more Bolt Action meets Trench Crusade.

Very cool! I’ve been aiming for 2e and 3e. Would love some 1e, but those are pricey. Did score Rogue Trader for a good deal though.

DC did some amazing event series back then. Infinite Crisis was another fave of mine.
