What a hugely lovely & fulfilling weekend. Lots of lovely food, drinks, walks, volunteering, some gardening, paving slab scrubbing, film watching, housework, cleaned the dishwasher filter because why not😆, freshly made bed to get into tonight. The sunshine energy is strong x

The month end stats are in and over the 28 days of February we served 1,953 freshly cooked breakfasts. 1,421 folks dined in in our warm and friendly cafe whilst 532 people took their breakfasts as takeaways. Please help us with food by donating here. 'Every little helps'.

If you like to buy books , any books , @bertsbooks.bsky.social is the place to buy them from. If it’s not listed on their website , they will find it & add it for you. Ended a brisk & fresh 5 miles with a glorious Arnold Bennet at Helen Browning’s Royal Oak in Bishopstone. Simply the best , quirkiest , most fabulous pub there is. With a farm shop full of their organic pork , apple juices etc

Up & out early doors☺️

First outdoor cook of the year on the mini kamado. Beautiful shawarma spiced chicken thighs , with hummus & olives & flat breads & all the things. Eaten in front of the tv & a fire after a busy productive day ☺️

Any Swindonians after a Kamado ? Getting rid of my large one as I use the mini mostly x

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.

I’m so tired of the news 😭

Word of the day is ‘huff-snuff’ (16th century): a hectoring bully or braggart.

Friday ☺️ Have a beautiful weekend all x

Just sat having a Teams meeting with myself because no-one else has bothered to join… so that’s nice 🤷🏼‍♀️

Also … had some record decks in the post today for my dolls house, my best friend messaged me to say it reminded her of my old house in Devon … & it really is similar. Decks on the dining table & a beer on the mantle piece was my general set up 😆

I’ve just been out for dinner with 5 of my (female) neighbours .. we’ve got a big old local female WhatsApp group ,just the original group went out tonight. Had an absolutely wonderful evening at a restaurant a few minutes away. Feeling thoroughly lucky & happy to live in a fab community ☺️

Miniature albums delivered today for the dolls house.

One Pan Beans from 5 o’clock apron. Black bean chilli & cornbread topping. Ace & delicious x

Last night supper was by no means healthy , but I found the source of the funk in the fridge. I’d kept this wrapped since a month before Christmas maybe.. an ale washed cheese with an almost now sour rind. There were a couple of rashers & some spuds to use up so I did what I could with it all 🤣

Just discovered that Libertys sell swatches (20cm x 20cm) of pretty much all of their fabrics & designs. £2 a pop. So , my dolls house will be getting new curtains & bedding soon. My daughter bought me tickets for Kensington Dolls House show in May too .Very excited 😁

My mum bought me theses ridiculously beautiful dish cloths/sponges & I can’t bring myself to use them 🙈

Wholewheat noodles in homemade pressure cooked chicken stock,a dash of clearspring organic noodle broth. All the fridge draw sliced or shaved or diced , cabbage in miso butter , handful of edemame from the freezer , spoon of beetroot kimchi & a pack of smoked tofu. It was so lovely ☺️

71 breakfasts served this morning to a grateful lot of guests. The stats this year so far. Jan 2,266 breakfasts served Feb 1,567 month to date. That’s a LOT of food , bought with donations & grants , served by volunteers. @bigbreakfastplus.bsky.social

Our terrace bathed in sunrise (before the atrocious weather hits later apparently) Off to feed the hungry people of Swindon a free cooked breakfast ☺️
