Right back at you @drkatietaylor.bsky.social! Your friendship, support and expertise has been such a shining light - thank you for being so awesome 💚

Introducing my Teaching Tees that I bring to my class - Week 1 ✨ (Some) footy starts this week and we looked at different roles of sports journos and all the things they need to be across (like becoming experts at cyclone patterns 🌀). - Tee by The Carlton Draft 👕 #DeakinUniversity #SportsMedia

This post wins the SheBelieves Cup 🏆

Stocked up for the 8hr train/bus combo ahead of me. Sports romance and sweets FTW 💖🍫🚂

Fabulous night at the #WNBL Awards in Melbourne last night ✨🏀🥂 It’s always such a great night to catch up with my fellow independent media friends who do amazing work covering women’s hoops like Paul, Mary & Jacinta from Shooting The Breeze, Nick Walker and Abbie from HER WAY 🏀

Last week we hosted our first ever in person #SirenSport networking event in Melbourne as part of our ABC Sport partnership 💚 It was so great to see the room come alive with amazing energy from women and non-binary folk connecting and sharing their experiences in sports media 💚

Subscribed! 🥰

Day ✌️ at the MCG for #TheAshes running into #WomenInSport mates Alex and Kel and eating strawberries and chocolate - does it get better than this?? 🍓🍫🏟️🏏❤️

It was great to be there to witness this historic match - Afghanistan Women v Cricket Without Borders. What next? Well, that's in the hands of the ICC. Here's my take for @theguardian.com:

Now to the MCG for the Women’s Ashes Test! 🏟️🏏💚💛 Who is here today?! Waving to y’all from the Southern Stand 👋 #TheAshes

An emotional morning at Junction Oval watching the Afghan women play their first match in three years since they arrived in Australia 💙 Wonderful to celebrate the moment with @cordway.bsky.social who has done so much and #WomenInSport mates @profruthjeanes.bsky.social @emmasherry.bsky.social 🏏

Watching the Afghan women’s cricket team take the field in Melbourne after everything they’ve been through is the best way to start the day. In awe of these women 🏏

Still buzzing from a day surrounded by leading sports historians and former Australian women's cricket legends at the MCC Library! What. A. Day! Thanks to @rafnicholson.bsky.social, Kirby Fenwick, Rob Hess, Marion Stell & Karen Hill for sharing your expertise with us! And Anne Gordon came! OMG! 🏏

Really special to be featured in my hometown newspaper The Sunraysia Daily. Thanks to Denika Anderson for writing a little profile on my sports media research at Deakin University and the #WomenInSport collective I co-founded Siren Sport 🗞️ Proud to be a country girl from #Mildura!

#Cricket please welcome @awcwvlc.bsky.social!! Two places to find people in the women’s cricket community: Starter pack (easy way to follow a bunch of likeminded people): go.bsky.app/HTw1qjb List (a timeline of posts from people who chat women’s cricket): bsky.app/profile/did:... 🏏 #Ashes

It is one week to go until the 'Women in Cricket History' panel at the MCC Library at the MCG so I'm re-reading Marion Stell's 'The Bodyline Fix' to prepare for our stellar panel discussion and also to get excited for the 90th anniversary of the first women's #Ashes Test 🏏

It’s like @thefrankiedlc.news just scoops up all the random thoughts and questions I have floating around my brain about women’s sport and puts them into a brilliantly written and well articulated social commentary. Another fantastic issue of the ‘Out of Your League’ newsletter.

Watch the #Ashes while you work… 🎶🏏

It’s going to be 42 degrees in #Mildura today - perfect day to sit under the air conditioning and watch the #Ashes while I work! 🏏

Sunday arvo #WNBL action in my hometown? Yes please! #Mildura 🏀

It was so exciting to meet the wonderful Prajwal Hegde 🎾 Prajwal is an amazing sports journalist from India who is here to cover the Australian Open and she is also a romance writer! I am so impressed by writers who can work across genres, can’t wait to read your books Prajwal! 📚💖🎾🏏

Ready to jump on air 🎙️ Coming up on ABC Radio Tasmania talking cricket at 10.40am (what else?! 🏏) Tune in! Also, so close to doing every ABC capital city station with my cricket story - ABC Radio Perth, call me! 😅

I've had the chance to do a lot of radio recently off the back of my article in The Conversation about backyard cricket which has been really fun. Here is a package from ABC Radio Melbourne highlighting some of the key themes in the piece.

First day of 2025, first radio interview of 2025 🎙️ I’ll be on ABC Radio Sydney at 3.45pm talking cricket 🏏 and dialling in while packing to head back to Melbs. Radio rocks for multitasking!

Looking for some summer sports reading? A few recs here from Lee McGowan & me in The Conversation today from women and non-binary writers in Australia 📚 Happy reading! t.co/IiKRwzAohn

Beyoncé and Konstas’ batting in one morning. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year ✨#AUSvsIND 🏏

Backyard cricket is a key entry point for cricket participation but it is facing many challenges, including apartment living and modern technology. My latest piece for The Conversation 🏏 t.co/fsA2FwEM1b

Sport and art! Darcy Vescio’s exhibition ‘That Sack of Air’ is just fabulous. Not going to think too much about how unfair it is that they are a super athlete AND artist, just going to enjoy all their talents 🎨🏉❤️ #AFLW

I bought myself a little Christmas gift! I mean, here is some more data for my sports romance fiction research 😉 Loving being part of the Hockey Smut Bookclub 🏒🎄❤️ Merry pucking Christmas y’all!

#SMAANZ2024 dinner 🥂 I spend the evening mostly running around the room and hugging people I don’t get to see that often and asking for selfies and trying not to cry when saying goodbye. It’s a good time ✨

Was a little nervous to bring a different style of paper to #SMAANZ2024 this year and reflect on the fan engagement implications from the growing sports romance novel genre. But everyone was so supportive 💖 Better do some more romance reading for ‘research’ 😉 📸 by @emmaphillips.bsky.social

Well this was a joy! 👏🏼 #SMAANZ

Off to #SMAANZ2024 today to talk about sports romance fiction 📚💖🫶 Excited to share my research passion for this space as a site for diverse fan engagement that is also just very fun! And reading sports romance fiction for research? Best. Data. Collection. Ever!
