This is an image of the Tarantula Nebula that I captured back in December 2022 using my 360mm refractor scope and narrowband filters. It's located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way about 160,000 light years from us. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Pencil Nebula, with RGB stars mixed in. I like replacing the stars in narrowband images if I can do so as I think it improves the image. Previous version with narrowband stars: bsky.app/profile/lazj... so you can compare against this RGB stars version. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Planet #Mars just passed the Beehive cluster (Messier 44) and is still close to it. I could take this photo on April 30 with a focal length of 135 mm (336 x 10s). Unfortunately, it was cloudy on the following days when the distance was at its smallest. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social 🔭

This is M3—an ancient ball of stars 33,000 light-years away. It’s like looking back in time. It is 33,900 light years from earth and has over 500,000 stars some of which are over 8 billion years old! #astronomy #AstroPhotography #NightSky @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Just shy of two hours stacked (23x300s) subs of NGC 7822 using the Playerone Uranus c-pro with an Askar colour-match duo-band SII/OIII 2" filter mounted on the StellaLyra 6" Imaging F4 Newtonian telescope on May 4-5th 2025. @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social #Astronomy #Astrophotography

Pencil Nebula. Data from April 2025. This is a HOO mix of 4h 20 min of Ha data and 7h of OIII data. For this version, the stars are from the Ha + OIII data. I have to process some RGB stars in the next version. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Whale Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici about 30 million light years away from Earth. This galaxy's slightly distorted wedge shape gives it the appearance of a herring or a whale, hence its nickname. #astronomy #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Needle Galaxy is an edge-on spiral galaxy about 30 to 50 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. It was first discovered in 1785 by William Herschel! Hope you enjoy!! #astronomy #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Messier 106 is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. It is 22-25 million light years away! Hope you enjoy!! @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social #astronomy

I took this image of the reflection nebula IC4603 back in June 2023. It is in the heart of Rho Ophiuchus and was taken with my 800mm reflector telescope with a total of 14 hours 20 minutes of imaging time using a mono camera and LRGB filters. #astrophotography #nebula @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Sh2-60 is a Hydrogen Alpha emission nebula in the constellation of Scutum. Taken over 5 nights in April 2025 with 21.5 hours of imaging time. Captured using my Celestron Edge HD8 and a ZWO ASI1600MM Pro camera. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Messier 61 - The Swelling Spiral Galaxy. Taken over 5 nights in April 2025 with 14.5 hours imaging time. Captured using my Celestron Edge HD8 and a ZWO ASI1600MM Pro camera, with some hydrogen Alpha included to make the embedded nebula in the galaxy pop #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Cygnus is back 🥳 ! IC5070 the Pelican Nebula shot over the last two nights from by backyard. The image is in HOO. #Astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

During this almost moonless early week, I captured the Ghost Nebula in Cepheus (VDB141) from my backyard astronomy setup over three nights. #astrophotography 🔭📷. Bottom line : dark nebulae are hard. What can you see @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

This is IC1284, a deep sky nebula located in the constellation Sagittarius. Located 5540 lys from Earth, I photographed it back in May 2023 using an 800mm reflector telescope. Total imaging time is 15 1/2 hrs over 5 days. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

This is a close up version of NGC5367 that I posted yesterday (bsky.app/profile/lazj...). With the wider field removed, obviously a lot of the galaxies have gone too. There's a few left and hopefully the closer view can show some more details. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Leo Triplet captured from my dark site in southern France last week 😊🔭🇫🇷 It was shot on the EdgeHD 8 with Hyperstar at f/2 on a moonless night under Bortle 4 skies. The total integration time is just 2 hours using a QHY183C cam without any filter. @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social‬ #Astrophotography

NGC5367. This was from the data I got last night. 8 hours of data. I'm not sure how the compression/reduction will go here, but if you look closely across the image, there are many galaxies in there. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social
