None of this has anything to do with effectiveness, or “lethality,” or promoting “warfighters," or any other buzzwords. It is praetorianism, plain and simple, and it is an assault on our military and our democracy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

I created a second starter pack of Colorado journalists and news organizations on Bluesky. The first, limited to 150, is in our profile. Who should be added?

www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4.... This is a great read on the spectacle that is now American politics and decline of America as a world power.

The House Republicans listed below are vulnerable in 2026. They will only vote to cut our benefits if they think no one is watching. If you live in these districts, or know anyone who does, CALL NOW and tell them to keep their hands off Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid!

How do you spell coup?

It is simply not enough for universities to say, “Our grants & research offices are looking into how research will be affected by the latest directive.” University leaders must actively and very publicly make the case for the kind of work many of us do. The silence on this front is deafening.

Always look forward to The Watchlist (it’s the good kind of watchlist!) from @wwborders.bsky.social - some excellent recommendations here by @tobiascarroll.bsky.social.

Online name-calling, threats toward local officials, fighting words from political leaders—incivility is more than just a nuisance. Here’s what you can do to alleviate it, according to research: at.apa.org/xbk

All month, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars will appear to line up and be bright enough to see with the naked eye in the first few hours after dark. This weekend, Venus and Saturn get especially cozy.
