It should go without saying, but perhaps not: Removing uncomfortable histories because they fail to glorify the dominant group in power is not the sign of a healthy and free society.

This would be so awful.

3rd snow storm in a week here in Wisconsin. Time to rewatch an old favorite #filmsky #tvsky #horrorsky

I don't think, when most people think about the status of "undocumented", they even consider the possibility of *becoming undocumented, as in having legal status and arbitrarily having it stripped away

That really is quite the headline, from the pretty right-wing Wall Street Journal.

If you are a federal worker being offered a buyout, I would advise against taking it. Of course, this is a personal decision for everyone and it’s your choice. But these offers are a rush job. The legality is questionable and this admin does not keep to its word. They aren’t firing for a reason.

not to dismiss the whole thing, but if I wanted to grow my own food I'd have become a farmer, the literal point of civilisation was that everyone didnt have to grow their own food

#30dayfilmchallenge #filmsky Day 15 - Your favorite family film

civil rights are not "noise." the right to participate in public life is not "noise." lifesaving healthcare is not "noise." waves of fucking suicides will not be "noise."

Uhhh, hi! It's me, Bookshop.org, a place to buy books online where every purchase financially supports indie bookstores instead of some billionaire.

An unprecedented assault on the constitutional order? "Just a distraction!" Extremists moving into positions of power? "Distraction!" The Trumpists rolling back the foundations of the civil rights order? "Don't get distracted!" An authoritarian takeover of government? "But the economy, baby!"

📢 SHE’S NOT CATHOLIC. SHE’S EPISCOPALIAN. YOUR FIRST CLUE WAS THAT SHE’S A WOMAN AT THE PULPIT. CHRIST. 📢

This is so goddamn funny

I SCREAM-LAUGHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So many children left behind.

this is gonna be the way things work over the next few years- the admin getting like 1% of what it wants and losing almost every negotiation while the lapdog press spins every loss as a huge historic win, it's literally the modi model

Here’s something easy you can do today. Block USA Today on Blue Sky. If thousands of us can do it, we can have an immediate impact on their reach on social media.

this is simply incredible news

Norovirus has officially hit our house, nobody is getting a good night of sleep, might as well turn on a comfort movie

#30dayfilmchallenge #filmsky Day 13 - A film you’ve always wanted to watch but still haven’t

First impression of the #Oscars2025 nominations this year is it would be awesome if The Substance won some because horror films so rarely get recognized at all.

Hey Bluesky, our movie The Apprentice is nominated for two Oscars! Trump has fought us every step of the way, and intimidated corporate America (not hard!) from showing it to you. The movie is about the fundamental choices we make that preserve or forfeit our humanity. thehill.com/blogs/in-the...

Will & Harper and I Saw the TV Glow not getting any attention from the #oscars puts a damper on the progress made by Emelia Perez, a movie many trans critics have huge issues with. Personally, I would see the two former over the latter.

The Democratic Party needs to get out of this woman's way.

some reporters have been too loose with phrasing like DEI. makes it sound like it's all abt post-George Floyd murder stuff. As he notes, they're ditching anti-discrimination policies that go back to LBJ.

I’M IN THIS POST AND I HATE IT!!!!!

#30dayfilmchallenge #filmsky Day 12 - A film you know almost word for word

i followed up with ADL about how this nazi salute was different than musk's and the press person responded by asking if i could sent it to the main ADL media email lol. that's it.

You won't be any better at fighting what's coming if you burn yourself out and spend all your time feeling bleak and hopeless, and the people telling you that it's all despair now probably don't have anyone's best interest at heart.

Recommended a Riesling to a customer and she said she "doesn't buy German wine, because, you know, WWII". Reader, she ended up buying an Italian wine.

#30dayfilmchallenge #filmsky Day 8 - A film you associate with a happy memory

one of my new years resolutions was to post more about things I love - to that end, I wrote a bit about one of my more recent passions: watching classic TV shows like Columbo, Moonlighting, Cheers, and more. www.idiotbox.site/p/in-defense...

#30dayfilmchallenge #filmsky Day 7 - A film starring your favorite actor (any gender)

I'm uncomfortable with the inevitable "his work was always crap" because it seems to say "you can tell who the predators are by how well they write" and ... no no you absolutely cannot, that's the whole point.
