I literally reported this Wednesday.

WYOMING: “Thank you, Madam chairman.” “I prefer ‘Mister’ chairman.” “Well you all voted preferred pronouns cannot be compelled speech.”

I know the world is a hot mess. I'm trying to help save a little corner of nature for future generations. Hoping some folks might be able to recommend groups or individuals that might like to support a land purchase of an environmentally and historically sensitive space. Thanks for any help!

“I’m in West Virginia — My insulin went from $6 to $80”

THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT. Right in the White House, Maine Gov Janet Mills goes toe to toe with Trump. Wow.

TLDR: 21. It’s $21 billion.

So does anyone have time to download and save some/all of this just in case? history.state.gov/historicaldo...

I’m George Takei and I approve of this message.

I'm a reporter at CNBC.com covering Elon Musk + his cos. We're interested in current or ex-fed employees' experiences w/ "DOGE," your work with (or perhaps investigating) Musk & his companies before 47. EPA, DOT, NASA, FTC, NTSB, SEC, NLRB -- DM me on Signal: lorakolodny.55

I haven’t seen anyone use #seaplanesunday yet, I’ll try launching it with this beautiful Grumman Widgeon, seen at Northampton Airport in Massachusetts, 4/17/22 #seaplane #grumman #widgeon #7b2 #airplanes #aviation #avgeek

Photos of the US before environmental regulation. An excellent primary source for social studies and science teachers - for a variety of reasons/lessons. 🗃️🗺️🍎

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

I need a break. When does @mlb.com start?

I was reminded I was on @newsweek.com list of best books to read in spring 2020. It came out in Feb. My book was out in April. Y'all know what happened in between. Wishing the best to all the 2020 and the poor 2025 authors. @mkn.bsky.social you are on this list too! www.newsweek.com/2020/02/28/4...

"I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell." William Tecumseh Sherman, who died on this day in 1891

When I heard Musk say this on Tuesday, my assumption was that it was a programming issue. Because I can code and have written to databases and because I am familiar with other examples of default values being misinterpreted. Yet somehow Musk isn't.

As a retired civil servant who spent my last 4 years going through what federal workers are experiencing now, I second this advice. But also, & this is crucial, DOCUMENT THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS, SAVE EVERY COMMUNICATION, PUT IT ALL ON REMOVABLE DRIVES, & DON’T MISPLACE YOUR TRUST.

Benjamin Franklin produced the very first chart of the Gulf Stream and then two more charts of it—here’s the final one, of 1786, showing Dr. Franklin in the lower right-hand corner, lecturing poor old Neptune, behind whom is the source of the Gulf Stream: the Gulf of Mexico

WSJ, last 48 hours:

Ed Martin ran Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum. Schlafly was a Bircher whose first big book (A Choice not an Echo) promoted Goldwater’s nomination in 1964. Her final book was “The Conservative Case for Donald Trump.” This is the culmination of the far right’s 60+ year effort to take over the GOP.

The impeccable @oliverdarcy.bsky.social is up with a mind-blowing scoop. When the NYT, NPR, NBC and Politico told the Pentagon losing their work spaces put them at a competitive disadvantage, these Trump Shitheels said OK, we'll ALSO throw out WaPo, CNN, The Hill, and The War Zone

ELON IS ALLOWED IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. NOT YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES OR STUDENTS & PARENTS. I WILL BE BACK.

Great history lesson from @mwpalen.bsky.social ... Using tariffs to pressure Canada to become a US state just pushes them towards closer ties with Britain

Here's the WIRED piece from 1AM, reporting that -- contrary to White House claims -- a 25-year-old Musk lackey has obtained direct access to Treasury Department systems responsible for nearly all payments made by the US government: www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

FYI

Has congress passed a law superseding or eliminating the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961? Has the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional? Then why are journalists reporting that Trump and Musk are "shutting down" USAID. They are not authorized to do so.

Such an important story. Needed to be told in this broad, public way. Looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks of it! #HATM

Missing #HATM tonight to write #book2 but! in case you’d like to research, explore, teach, share primary sources about the amazing 6888th, Library of Congress has you covered 🗃️ guides.loc.gov/6888th-centr...

If you are not following @timothysnyder.bsky.social you should be. He is an outstanding historian ("Bloodlands" is the best book about the worst times) and has studied tyranny - and resistance to it - for decades. If you are looking for guidance on what to expect and what to do, he is a good start.

Please, everyone, drop what you’re doing and read this:

Our in-person Historic House Museum Summit will bring leaders in the field of historic house museums together to discuss how these museums communicate the stories and meanings of their collections, buildings, and landscapes as well as what the future holds. Register at tinyurl.com/HHM2025.

Dems, are you just going to let these clowns destroy the country?

Why there’s now ‘incredible demand for physical gold’ in New York markets www.marketwatch.com/story/why-th... via @MarketWatch

In a just society, teaching & learning honest history wouldn't be an act of resistance, but here it is. One small thing I can offer this Black History Month is the conversations I've had with brilliant historians about their work uncovering difficult stories about this country's racial legacy.

Argh, the State Department historical documents/Foreign Relations of the United States series websites keep going on and offline (I'm intermittently getting access and then getting 502s). Trying to download as much as I can while I can. Really not good... attn: @shafrhistorians.bsky.social

The ordinary questions you might ask: Is Elon Musk a government employee? Are his lieutenants? Does he personally hold a security clearance and do his “lieutenants”? Have they all undergone a background check? Are they subject to foreign influence? Have they ever done a sieg heil on stage?
