Aren’t you the ones who used to enable Trump when he was a candidate. You all ignored president Biden and the media was all about Trump. If he shit you all covered it. Give me a break, American media is the worse
If only there had been warning signs

How much did the farmers aid cost again ? Was the total trade deficit improved?
Has Don lost more totally than he’s ever earned and inherited .is he a financial genius?
There's a version of this that is right... It's not stealing. But we can pick up our toys and go home.
All of this is totally opt-in. It's time for consumers to become citizens. Stop buying. Stop giving our attention away. Where we put our money, time, and attention matters now
I'm not worried about them escalating things and making life harder for us because I'm operating on the reasonable assumption that they're already going to do that.
Is it a scorched Earth tactic? Yes. Will they blink? Yep!
None of this is worth the effort if they aren't rich and powerful after.
And what would leaning into our power look like exactly?
Just boycotting isnt enough. We dont want to JUST avoid giving them wealth. We want them to actively lose it. That involves TAKING it. At some point we have to take from them.
No oppression has ever been defeated by asking nicely.
For one thing, people ARE already stealing(certainly here in CA for one), and it isn't causing positive change; it only gives them an excuse to restrict things further.
Let's help. "a new portal for whistleblowers to expose wrongdoing and abuses of power in the Trump administration. the Whistleblower Protection Act prohibits retaliation against federal employees who disclose evidence of wrongdoing" https://www.democrats.senate.gov/whistleblowers
We're 10 days into the month and I have spent ~$80 this month, and part of that was items on sale, to replace my food stock for future days. My current shopping list for next week stands at ~$30 so far. 🥴
Meal planning and using what you have makes a huge difference.
Awesome for trying to save $. After Jan 20, I’ve only had 1 Amazon purchase vs 3-4 a week before. No more trips to Walmart/Home Depot/Lowes unless absolutely necessary. Last year I was thinking reducing my garden for traveling. Now no major traveling this summer means more gardening.
I just moved some seedlings into bigger pots myself. I am going to check out a local nursery for some of what I may need. I tried to think ahead and get seed starting mix before the inauguration, but will likely need something else at some point.
Cool! I’m a little late with doing my seedlings. Finally got the dirt, need to santize it for gnats. Plus I’m behind on my winter sowing. The weekends have either been too cold, snowy or raining! 🙄
It really does! I’ve also been more intentional about how I spend my money. Buying most of my groceries from Costco, not ordering from Amazon, doing my own hair and mani-pedis. Saving money where I can & refusing to shop at places like Target, Walmart, Starbucks! They clearly don’t value my $.
We used to get probably almost 3/4 of our groceries from Target, with some Costco and Aldi. Now we go to Costco and Aldi mainly.
The COVID era in a way was good practice, because I found that I could actually cut some of our hair too. It's also when I learned to use more shelf stable grocery items
For getting like 80% of the screen time on CNBC, CEOs and bankers seem to be consistently pretty awful at assessing political risk to markets and the economy .
For sure. And that’s unfortunate. But I feel like I’ve been telling people for years that democracy and inclusion and immigration are UNQUESTIONABLY good for business and why TF do so many continue to believe republicans are good at business? They are just good at corruption.
Hilariously, the guy who manages my mom’s IRA said “if trump gets in, it will be a disaster for the markets. He is incredibly good at managing her pittance to make it last while providing for her care.
He’s great w money & he & his team saw this mess coming.
No, leopards starting to eat rich/super-rich faces, which is another kettle of fish entirely. They tend to be disapproving of having their faces eaten, possibly enough to be prepared to have something done about it, to the whole Misadministration, perhaps. Not predictably, though.
How many subscriptions were canceled before they decided to stop fawning over a felon?
Because you're absolutely right $omething, the only thing, matter$ to them. A lot.
Fuck the WSJ. After Biden was elected, our financial advisors warned us about an upcoming recession (that never happened) because of the unchecked immigration. I know they were salivating about electing trump.
New: That ridiculous CBS/YouGov poll published Sunday revealing people approve of what Trump has done the past 20 days, including his views on Hamas/Israel (not so much on Gaza "Riviera"). Trump rates a 53% Job Approval rating. Wait 'til more folks see how the freezes & tariffs affect them.
Since inauguration i have not ordered anything from Amazon, have not gone to target (hate Walmart already). Sour isn’t even the half of it. Actively repulse.
We all signed no-spend contracts together on January 6th here. We're only spending on absolute necessities. This means no meals out, no fun nights, no movies, and absolutely no splurge spending.
Hit them where it hurts $
The second one is complete horseshit. CEO'S are absolutely giddy right now. They are so busy salivating over the gains they will make in the new robber baron age, that they completely forgot a CEO was just murdered and the overwhelming public sentiment was that he deserved it.
Rippling through private sector as we speak. I just received another stop work order on a federal contract. Some of my colleagues have been furloughed. Trump voters supported him because of the economy, right 🙄
DEI is a racist framework and together with affirmative action has been discriminating against Jews, Asians and whites and should disappear from our country
No. The actual implementation in most corporations which meant that they have the overt racial preferences to people which is racist and unconditional. What do you think it meant in practice in a typical corporation? Why do you have to provide your race when applying?
On a related note, how are you feeling about the trump cabinet picks. I mean, talk about unqualified! Trump shrunk the pool to loyalists regardless of skill.
But sure, expanding the pool via Diversity , Equity, and Inclusion is "bad".
I have - working for a Dow 30 company in the 60s and 70s we always hired the best qualified person regardless of race or gender or sexual orientation - we also were required to pay people equal salaries for the same work-maybe things changed since then😇
Mark Burnett helped create that successful business man image through The Apprentice. One of the producers spoke out last summer about how fake it was, but it was apparently too late. Too many people were too far gone to listen.
I've said it a million times, but Trump's political superpower is that he's such a goddamn nihilist about literally everything that it becomes super easy for folks to project whatever beliefs they want onto him. They've been doing it for a decade nonstop at this point, and he *keeps* fooling them.
🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨 MAGA Base Shrinks by 14% Amid Policy Changes by Trump and Musk
Washington, D.C. — In a shocking turn of events, recent reports indicate that the MAGA movement has suffered a staggering 14% drop in its most loyal supporters...
Perhaps investors are realizing that without the rule of law, there is no rational market... When dictators rule, the only competition that counts is currying favor with the strongman... the antithesis of a 'free market'...
Yeah. The media’s tune has finally changed now that the Trump administration has set a wrecking ball to our government for these first 3 years of his 2nd administration…
What?? It’s only been 20 days??
This mostly demonstrates these (oh so wise) CEOs and bankers don't really see or understand anything and are just glorified gamblers making very uneducated guesses and reflexively reacting to things in real-time, lacking any knowledge or foresight. The 'wisdom' of the market, indeed.
Turns out the only difference between regular people with terrible judgement and these wealthy execs and investors is the amount of money they have to make bad decisions.
Lots of them got where they are by making really BAD risky bets and winning anyway. Capitalism selects for the absolute worst decision makers to rise to the top through sheer luck.
Really. What did they think? Especially people in the financial industry. What happens when no one can afford anything and doesn't want to buy in because of lack of saleguards?
They only know what fox tells them. And many are just ignorant. As for business leaders I am truly surprised at how they are just letting this happen. They will lose everything. Very few can be oligarchs.
Go look at the Conservative sub-Reddit. The lies and misinformation about the “corruption” DOGE has found is so ridiculous and clownish. And they’re constantly in the news. They think the more Democrats resist, the more they’re hiding corruption. We need to break through the lies.
HE LET HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS DIE UNNECESSARILY BC OF HIS LIES AND CORRUPTION AND CRASHED THE ECONOMY IN 2020. BIDEN REBUILT IT AND RESTORED OUR HEALTH. 17 MILLION JOBS.
Too late. They entirely missed the fact that Musk/Thiel (and his minions including Sacks, Vance,Zuck etc) don't care if they crash the real economy (they're crypto wealthy) and regard bankers and CEOs as among the 20% 'elite' who should be eliminated.
I don’t know if they know it. But crypto is only valuable if you believe. And if the economy crashes. Crypto will fall with the dollar. Because you sooner or later have to change currency to real money.
I hope all this gets worse so consumers are in pain and CEOs and bankers are really pissed off. Yes I know it hurts the innocent, but it seems Americans can’t learn important lessons unless it really hurts and the more it hurts, the better the midterm election results.
I stopped my subscription 2 weeks ago because they were publishing absolute nonsense about this admin. Good to see they’re being a little more even handed but still a long way from truth
A dog carrying a bone looks in a still stream of water, he sees another dog also holding a bone, he lashes out at it to try and steal the bone. dropping his into the water. Now he had nothing.
These dumb fucks rolled the dice on another Trump administration expecting that it would be sane and prosperous. They never learn when they only pay attention to their money.
Slow and steady wins the race, not chaos and incompetence.
Eventually, Wall Street will figure out that MAGA is actually bad for business. The allure of tax breaks will founder once they realize that the issue of tax rates are only salient when you have profits. Trump's Amateur Hour will kill both production and *profits*. A sinking tide lowers all boats.
After the last couple weeks, I'm mystified why people are still thinking this is something to fight. They don't care, they want to burn it to the ground. P25 is about the destruction of the administrative state. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RpPTRcz1no
Relatively Sane Rich People may have thought Trump was going to make things over to fit their greedy fantasies. But the Broligarchs have other plans. They want to take over the world and make it into their Eugenics vision of utopia. And only a handful of Rich White Men will be invited to survive.
They knew, they just thought they’d only get tax breaks. They didn’t really think Trump would have kept President Musk around much less hand him the keys. But, they might be able to end this if willing to lose a few mil.
Listen to Alvin Lee here, and then listen again. Whenever I get down I put this on. Then I get off my ass and do something to fix my problem. Life changing stuff for these crazy times. 🇨🇦
YW, as a teenager I thought I understood them. As I got older I found myself drawn to them, still not quite knowing why. I think, as I continue to age the meaning will continue to help me understand the world around me in
THIS. I’ve asked myself this question more times than I can count. The continual squeezing of Americans results in less buying power, a diminished ability to consume, and less money flowing to the top. Do they really want to kill the golden goose? Idgi
Billionaires don't need more money. They crave power. They don't care whether you buy their products if they have the ability to just take everything from you anyway. Bezos wants his employees terrified...extrapolate.
I agree, but my comment was relative to people who own other businesses and support the American oligarchs. Such as someone who owns a restaurant or small retail store.
I think they start to panic when thinking about this and then some court grifter says "Worry not, sire! A.I. will fix this!" and then nobody thinks about the problem for a few more weeks. Rinse and repeat. (the entire executive class of this country is stupid as hell & operates on magical thinking)
I emailed former president Barack Obama tonight and asked him to step forward as my former leader and to be a leader again and help us save our democracy. Here is the link
Its owner was in the Oval office late last week. Rupe was identified in press reports from some Trump E.O. signing, but it seems like he may not have the golden touch anymore. Sad!
Because the business community more than anything else values stability, predictability and rule of law. When the conditions are stochastic, they can’t plan their capital investments or make any serious decisions.
The corporate leaders thought they could control the new Chancellor. They thought his extreme rhetoric was only used to stir up his base of supporters, and that he wouldn't really follow through on his worst ideas. If nothing else, they controlled the real economy and could stop him.
If only the Democrats hadn’t passed all those laws requiring people to use woke pronouns and to replace their gas stoves, none of this would have happened. 🤷♂️
Cut back on buying. The faster the CEOs feel the pain and start complaining the better. Trump doesn't care about individuals and is more likely to listen to CEOs.
I don't give a flying fuck what wall street thinks. These hedge fund fucks are going to short the whole way down and make their money when this orange buffoon crashes the economy. Then they'll buy up the bottom and own it all. They'll be the momentary masters atop a heap of shit that is left of USA
I'm not an economist, but I would imagine that political violence and a terrified populace tends to be bad for business. Wall Street prefers stability.
Funny you mentioned that. I just stopped in to the Czech Stop in West last weekend to pick up some kolache for my parents! I normally frequent Hruska's in Ellinger or Weikel's in La Grange when I go to Austin, but happened to be coming home from Fort Worth, so I czeched out The Czech Stop!
Their response was so inept, the more I think of it, the more it seems on purpose. They’d have to be complete idiots to not see what was happening right in front of them (and deaf, bc we were screaming).
Say what you will about Biden, Harris, and the Dems. They’re not stupid…
Amazon and Bezos don't like tariffs. Screws their business model on which they personally hold and sell goods as an independents know as "fulfilled by Amazon" clients but it's just Amazon.
I mean who in that community thought they'd come out of another Trump Presidency with a FREE MARKET system?
Seriously, how did these people ascend to these positions? That's the real question.
Well market volatility and the treasuries are one barometer and Musk running from government office to office acting like a hacker troll is about as relevant as it gets.
Has anybody looked at the history of social upheaval? It's not the time that most people consider buying a new sofa and microwave. And by the way, it's also not the time that people generally start families.
The people who read those papers are the people who aren’t rich enough to be oligarch class, and they don’t matter enough to impact the way things go. But they are in the finding out part of choosing a leopard.
I think it would be very interesting to see what happened if nationally Unions started talking about a national strike. Note, I said talk about, but seriously talk about. Keeping in Mind Elon Musk's hand, and Trump's EO are on the FLUSH PENSIONS button 🔘

Send the message. The Nazi oligarchs want to break the social contract by taking away our rights and our representation? Fine.
No more money, and we burn everything they own. Somebody will replace them eventually.
That's the new social contract.

If every american went and stole stuff today, they couldnt build jails fast enough.
Plus then what? We're all in jail and the economy ends.
The strategic reason for that is that it makes it okay for them to steal and repress more... and that is leaning into their power.
We want to lean away from their power and into our power.
Is it a scorched Earth tactic? Yes. Will they blink? Yep!
