This Pharmacy Fika episode highlights the need for curricular leadership- the ability to see beyond traditional topics, disciplines, and silos in Pharmacy Education- to infuse our curricula with high-impact educational practices. pharmacyfika.podbean.com/e/high-impac...

The Iowa GOP advanced a bill making it a misdemeanor for a healthcare provider to administer a Covid vaccine. Even when a person has requested a Covid vaccine.

mRNA vaccines are the biggest recent/current medical breakthrough/moonshot for ALL diseases, not just viral infections. There could very well be (more) vaccines to prevent & treat cancer (eg pancreatic & melanoma!), malaria, HIV, genetic conditions, & things like CMV that cause untold disease burden

Be kind to each other today. It's a lot...

ICONIC: Yosemite National Park workers just hung an upside-down American flag—THOUSANDS of feet up on El Capitan. That’s not decoration. That’s a distress signal. They’re telling us the country is in danger. Are you paying attention? www.sfchronicle.com/outdoors/art...

Every single vaccine in the childhood schedule has been subjected to the highest level of scrutiny for any medical product. Because vaccines are given to an otherwise healthy population, safety and effectiveness are essential.

"It is time for our profession to avail itself of the full range of talents represented by neurodiversity." This Viewpoint discusses the importance of embracing neurodiversity in medicine to build a more inclusive physician workforce. ja.ma/4b6566W #MedSky

I had a great time in Houston for #PharmEd #Interim25 @aacpharmacy.bsky.social Presented with co-chairs of the COD/COF Academic Affairs Committee and received very valuable feedback from attendees. Grateful to reconnect with mentors and friends from across the country!

"When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation to do something about it." - John Lewis. It's not enough to simply recognize something is wrong; we have a moral duty to act.

******I will say this again and again****** MAKING CUTS TO THE BUDGET IS EASY IF YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES. Ending funding for road repair saves money right away…the regrets come later. That is what is happening here…except with diseases. open.substack.com/pub/insideme...

This was one of RFK Jr.’s first orders after being sworn in. Just an astonishing denial of science and will cause so much pain to the 45 million Americans facing mental health challenges.

Every University has a stable of lawyers and together they will form a thundering herd. The indirect cost cap, if left in place, could take down entire university towns. Every dollar of NIH funding returns $2.46 in economic activity. www.nih.gov/about-nih/wh...

Don’t believe him. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings. But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.

St. Jude Children’s Resesrch Hospital in Memphis has a published indirect rate of 85%. They will lose out on tens of millions of dollars in funding.

This is more like it, NYT. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/u...

If you're struggling financially due to government fuckery or for any reason really and you need infant formula talk to your pediatrician we can hook you up and don't like to ask questions.

Somewhere in the U.S., there’s a scientist staring at their NSF/NIH grant application wondering why they bother. This post is for you. Science and society both need you. Hang in there and know there is a whole community supporting you.

While the two are doubtless completely unrelated, the conjunction of an air safety tragedy and an assault on the administrative state—from freezing funding to deferred retirement offers—may well focus public attention on the necessity of competent government.

Trump attempts to freeze $3 trillion in federal grants. If this goes through, the nuclear blast radius will be huge—Suicide hot line, domestic violence shelters, cancer survivors. Time to see how strong our checks and balances are. Congress, universities and governors, it’s beyond time to engage

Hey @theajpe.bsky.social is there anyway to get all the articles in the "Special Section on 'COEPA CABaNA' Edited by Michael Fulford, Ashley Castleberry & Melissa S. Medina" on one page?

If you're as baffled by differences between #PharmEd and pharmacy practice as I've been, this is a great conversation starter. @aacpharmacy.bsky.social Do we need better alignment between what pharmacists do, what employers say they want, and what pharmacy schools teach? www.ajpe.org/article/S000...

If you're at the end of the semester, wondering how you can move forward in a sustainable way with your teaching work, let me recommend @liznorell.bsky.social's Present Professor. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/blog...

Why do health profession educators teach? #MedEd #PharmEd #NurseEd #HPE I enjoyed the conversation this week on @paperspodcast.bsky.social I especially appreciated the author recommendations to involve educators in course design and plan protected teaching time paperspodcast.ki.se/2024/12/03/7...

Social media is where so many Americans get health-related information. I appreciate these informative shorts on #vaccines from @kmpanthagani.bsky.social and @kkjetelina.bsky.social Let's spread more evidence-based information like this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2BI...

Is it possible to adopt a #slow mindset in #PharmEd? Imagine the freedom on unlinking your worth from your productivity! Jeff Cain, @corevalues5.bsky.social, and I pondered this question in our latest commentary www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

A1: My grading philosophy is grounded in feedback feedback feedback. The point should be, by the time we do something that "counts", you've had lots of practice and feedback from me. All my kids have As? Excellent! Means they know the material. #UngradingChat

Looking forward to attending the @aacpharmacy.bsky.social Interim Meeting in Houston in February! The COF/COD Joint Taskforce will be sharing some best practices for including prescribing, enhancing program quality, and other new topics from the 2025 ACPE Standards #PharmEd
