I knit. Lots. And design knitting patterns. Obsessed, really. (Also: genealogy, linguistics, SCA, and other general geekery. Plus, I'm a Muppet in human form.) www.wipinsanity.com

The struggle is real.

Great thread about a completely BS urban legend.

But if historical records access is taken away, how will white supremacists do the genealogy research they need to get into clubs like the United Daughters of the Confederacy? Best not to anger your base, maybe. Hopefully this is a move that will really backfire.

Out of whimsy, I had arranged my remaining Valentine's Day chocolates like so. Husband: Oh hey, you made them all fancy! Me: It's a Kolvoord Starburst Manoeuvre. #geekery

🧶Finished knitting project: a lap blanket! Pattern is my own, cobbled together from some motifs in a resource book. 7mm needles, bulky weight yarn, finished size roughly 3' x 2'. It's reversible because it's #doubleKnitting. #knitsky

One strategy to conquer your enemy is to destroy infrastructure. Gum up the works. Make the population sicker: axe food and water safety, dismantle health care. Kill by making travel unsafe. Sabotage the ability to make scientific advancements. Etc. Sound familiar? America: He's working against you.

Middlest child just described the historical relationship of England and France as "the enemies to lovers trope". Then youngest added, yeah, but the kind of lovers who talk smack about each other behind their backs. #parentingMoments

Thread. Accessibility is good for EVERYONE.

I've started a blog! Unraveling Privilege will be where I host craftivism KALs, such as the #UnfreeKAL in March! It's also where I'll be writing about activism, privilege, and systemic and intersectional oppression. www.unravelingprivilege.com/intro/ #writing #blog #DHMakes #activism

More Canadian knitting-related resources in the replies! Also, in case it wasn't clear, ;) I'm a Canadian knitting designer and you can find my stuff at wipinsanity.com 🧶

So the bad news is that my last meeting of the day ran overtime and I finished work 20 minutes later than usual (oh well). But the good news is that IT WAS STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE when that happened!!! #happyDance

🧶 It's #TBT, so here's my First Ever published-by-a-magazine knitting design: the Sweetness Top. It appeared in the April 2008 issue of online magazine MagKnits...which folded about a week later, alas. This baby is now almost EIGHTEEN (motherly sob). #knitsky wipinsanity.blogspot.com/p/pattern-sw...

🧶 It's #wipWednesday so here's what my Zingiber project looks like at the moment. I'm about 14 rows away from starting the bottom edging. It'll be a hooded cardigan with pockets. Design from talvi knits. Yarn is Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted. #knitsky

It's National Hugging Day! 🫂 To celebrate, here are a few examples of medieval hugs First up we have a scene from an early fifteenth-century manuscript of a man and woman enjoying a rather close embrace @MedievalMss (@walters_museum) MS W. 166, fol. 118r 🧵 1/

Great advice, this.

Just learned that my eldest has been steadily improving her tracking-work-hours-and-income spreadsheet to the point where she is now using stuff like CONDITIONAL FORMATTING and SUMIFFING FROM MULTIPLE SHEETS and other such things...and words cannot describe how proud I am! ❤️❤️❤️ #whenGeeksParent

Today, a #genealogy win: New set of 6x-great-grandparents for my husband! 🎉

🧶 Santa put a ball of Regia 4-fädig Color in colour #3085 in my stocking at Christmas, and now I have glorious new socks! :squee: I love the colours and the striping. #knitting

Nothing says "the future is here" quite like getting to tell your husband, as an update on how the car is doing, "Sensors are back online."
