Some are asking for more passion from our soon to be PM, Mark Carney. I disagree- he’s passionate about Canada, our values and our people - and we need his calm. These are tumultuous days, emotions are high: fear, anger and worry. We need a calm and determined leader to pull us through.

Mark Carney wins the Liberal Leadership Election by a landslide 85.9%, and delivers a very impressive & inspiring #CanadaStrong 🇨🇦 acceptance speech.

I learned a new word today: autarky — the concept of a completely self-sufficient national economy. If that’s what the Trump administration aspires to, then the implications for Canada (and other allies & trading partners) are alarming.

What’s the plan behind Trump’s tariff war? Is there a plan? Good analysis by Andrew Chang of CBC’s “About That”. International trade depends on a certain amount of trust between parties. And trust, once lost, is incredibly difficult (if not impossible) to restore.

Why indeed? And how is this not a huge red flag to every potential supporter?

I had the exact same experience yesterday at my local LCBO. (For folks outside of Ontario: that’s the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, which operates the liquor stores in this province.)

Elbows up, Canada.

Jinkies. Even Peace by Chocolate is gearing up for the fight, and they have the word peace in their title.

New from @policyalternatives.ca: Let's not sugarcoat it—the situation for women and gender-diverse people is grim. This year, International Women's Day is a call to arms. By @kjscott.bsky.social #IWD2025 #canfem www.policyalternatives.ca/news-researc...

Don’t forget to spring forward this weekend!

This was #OntarioPlace on this weekend in March 2023. Brisk but fresh. Bright with a warm sunset glow. Patches of snow on the ground, a soundtrack of early migratory birds and lapping waves on the pebble beach. Heartbreakingly destroyed for a planned stadium-sized private spa from Therme Group.

We’ll take it.

“Everything you want to know about the Canada-U.S. tariffs” … but were afraid to ask for fear of making them come true

Checking the headlines this morning… 🫣 … ☹️ …🤦‍♀️

BTW, about those rare-earth elements… Interesting fact check by @javierblas.bsky.social

Well articulated.

Aha! It was “thundersnow”, not an exploding meteor. Let’s not confuse our cryptic omens.

Huh. I was wondering what that was. Didn’t see the flash, but heard a really loud, longish “thunder clap” that I didn’t think was thunder.

So how did the 45.5% of eligible Ontarians, who actually voted, cast their ballots? Here’s the breakdown from the Toronto Star: www.thestar.com/politics/pro... #ONpoli #Ontario #OntarioElections

Good grief. According to CBC News, voter turnout in yesterday’s #Ontario provincial election was about 45.5% — compared to 44% in 2022, the lowest-ever turnout the province’s history. #OntarioElections #ONpoli

Excellent question.
