So frustrating to engage thoughtfully w someone (you speak with almost daily) reposting misinformation and getting logical fallacy in response followed by "agree to disagree," and straight up ignoring any response after that. They probably see it as "preserving their peace" but it's just lazy.

I have a small business. I make stickers and shirts and things. I fund my banned book drive through these efforts. I am also saving for some upcoming medical expenses. Linktr.ee/createaction

saying "go birds" but just rooting for birds in general, hope they're having fun and not catching that flu

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen. Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !” globalnews.ca/news/9793403...

So pleased Max finally added Young Sheldon s7. Great bg for some Saturday LEGO.

Good news from FL - Sen. Rick Scott's voicemail box is full. Keep flooding his office! Not full is senator Ashley Moody's. Her # is 202-224-3041. If you have trouble dealing w people on the phone, weekend calls directly to voice mail are a great way to take your small step!

Stuff you might find on a teacher's desk.

K's Science Corner: DNA Fingerprinting is a way to reveal certain fragments of DNA that can be used to identify an individual. These fragments are in noncoding regions of DNA, meaning they don't have instructions for building proteins. A lot of what we actually know about DNA is pretty new.

K's Science Corner: All boulders are rocks, but not all rocks are boulders. In general, boulders are characterized by diameter, which is typically at or over 258mm (roughly 10"). Grain size can indicate how and where the rock formed in terms of weathering and erosion or even cooling time. #geology

Decided I'm going to pivot to posting fun science facts based on whatever I find interesting on a given day. I'll start it up on a fresh post, though. But yeah. We need some levity and wonder and awe around here. So here goes. #scienceteacher

Publications freeze we were told extends to FDA staff-authored scientific articles and abstracts in journals that have not yet published, which could impact agency submissions for several large scientific conferences in the spring. insights.citeline.com/pink-sheet/a...

Success with a Trader Joe's Philodendron. This thing has grown about a foot since I purchased it. Possibly more. So pleased. #plants #houseplant #Philodendron

Friends, I keep seeing "get a library card!" posts and while yes, that is helpful, it doesn't really mean much unless you *use* it. And just using it won't save programs, funding, or protect from bans. You have to get involved.

Absurd...of all the things..

Today's activity instead of turning on the news. Plane views might be one of my new fave hobbies.

"your validity is not dictated by an executive order" is probably a reassuring sentiment for people whose needs begin and end at validity, but are unlikely to soothe people who need things like "legal protections" or "access to health care"

I am a former incarcerated firefighter. I served in a California fire camp from 2009 to 2012. Misinformation is afire on the internet, so here are facts about the prison firefighter program, all in one place. A thread.

Don't forget to peep the sky one of these evenings. They don't call it a Planet Parade for nothing. Tap into your sense of wonder and smallness! #space #nightsky

Wanted to get back into reading #comics and #Manga, so I picked up this one figuring a fresh story in a familiar universe would be a good start. It stands on its own p well, doesn't rely too heavily on familiar characters. Nice to follow a female protagonist, and Sho Hinata does a decent job of it.

I know it's basic physical science, but when the water out of the shower head is still below body temp and the glass fogs up.. that's just cold, man.

I've decided my word of the year 2025 is F O R W A R D.

First evening plane frame of the year. I love night landings.
