"your validity is not dictated by an executive order" is probably a reassuring sentiment for people whose needs begin and end at validity, but are unlikely to soothe people who need things like "legal protections" or "access to health care"

The average democrat is trying to comfort trans people by saying “hey, don’t be upset, I’ll still play along with your weird pretend game.” Fuck all of them
The thing about being trans is that it means living in a world where you implicitly cannot trust anyone but your own community, so we’re used to shit like this. Bring it on, motherfuckers.
there is also typically a shift in overall culture when something is legally recognized. it means something to people, even if subliminally. this executive order is a statement to the broader public that they don't need to take trans people or their rights seriously
tbf i was a little mean in my reply. a lot of trans people behave like wounded animals online, and that's understandable. i wish there was an easier way to encourage that energy towards helping themselves and their friends. someone like me uses social media to vent because i know it is safer cf. rl
i guess part of the problem is dry, pithy quips are a staple and a form of bonding where we come from. whereas for this poster, she would probably get a similar enjoyment posting about queer games history.
they can take everything away from you that matters to you right down to your endocrine system but you nothing can stop you being a weird little fruit in the privacy of your bedroom 🙏
"You're valid" dosent fix anything when they need these resources the government is banning or else they will DIE
And hate crimes, just bc a trans person is valid dosent save them from getting assaulted and murdered, and the justice system looking the other way
I'm not surprised at all that most cis "allies" think this. While it's true that how people are physically sexed is innately wired and about 1% of people aren't born with their body (literally f/m/nb, just didn't get their respective body) and that for obvious reasons
socially/medically transitioning are extremely likely *outcomes* of this (being trans), and that this is why informed consent and self-id need to be ubiquitous, etc....At some point in the past few decades someone started defining us in terms of gender…you know, *vibes and aesthetics*. A mental
exercise. This lie is that we’re our asab but just want to wear dresses or cut our hair short, etc., and some of us want that so bad that we get dysphoric and need to change our bodies. You know why a trans woman who’s stereotypically feminine is “transgender?” Because the underlying assumption is
asab like everyone else but just have really feminine or nonbinary or masculine personalities and some of us as a result want to change our bodies to express that. “But you as a male don’t need hrt, you’re valid as a guy who wants to call himself a woman and loves to wear dresses, LIVE YOUR
trans people do not need someone telling them it's ok to believe whatever they believe about themselves they need material support to address material problems
Very indicative of people who perceive all discourse about human rights as words only because they never had to deal with those words controlling their material reality.
political cartoon in that extra smarmy illustration style just flashed in my head of a shattered vial on a sidewalk with the torn label reading "Validity"
with all the arguing last summer over material conditions it honestly felt like this was gonna be the liberal consensus by the time the inauguration came around.
Omfg how the "validity" rhetoric pulls my strings in a bad way. Goddammit to hell with validity, where's my healthcare, where's my right to exist as a normal human?! Its like they're patting our backs "you're not as invalid as you are, there there."

So yeah, part of the current lie is that 99% of people *just happen* to be existentially good with how they’re sexed and trans people are their
*Erasing the innateness of sex erases trans people*.
Defining trans people in terms of gender/transgender has really destroyed us.
And the trans community reinforces it regularly. Like for example how many times a day do you see posts that
