I have been enjoying the concept of the history of a city, and also understanding how different the city of London is - part of Tudor England but also having power in it's own right

Surely silence must be maintained in order to avoid attracting the attention of the zombies...

Do you know the significance of those particular badges? Chicken farming, mounting weapons on the walls of National Trust properties, and shushing people talking in the library?

(yes, I know Pontefract is in the City of Wakefield District but c'mon this can't be the best way to describe the location of Pontefract Castle!)

I wonder if HMRC would appreciate it if I submit my accounts in this style?

History posts are appearing on the special features section of the Masterpiece website after each episode - www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterp... the latest post is about the wonderful Margaret Douglas - seriously that woman deserves her own film!

Love a good doorway or arch (and I think that I spy Fountains Abbey there)

Thank you also random stranger! I miss the days when it was usual to send postcards to friends and family when on holiday

I feel like it is self-fulfilling these days. We are so used to drab clothes in historical films and historic buildings with colour stripped out by later generations that, if you use bright colours, audiences will assume you are being inaccurate and anachronistic!

Because the surviving examples of the raised chain stitches look super cool? I just can't believe that they tent stitched their backgrounds first - Princes Elizabeth must have been working at her embroidered book cover for Katherine Parr for hours

Is that from one of Jacqui Carey's books? I got as far as thinking I might be able to manage tent stitch!

I can well imagine! It would be quite the labour to revisit them all, especially whilst there are still areas that have not been covered at all

Fascinating. Is he dressed in leaves or furred? I realised I have seen a woodwose before but in Lincolnshire - however, as it was on the tomb of Katherine Willoughby, it was perhaps a reference to the fact she was duchess of Suffolk.

Dare I ask what a woodwose is?

Oh you should - I have been down a 17th century rabbit hole. Anna Keay The Restless Republic is great on the Commonwealth period.

The enthusiasm and level of interest was fabulous to see. Long may they stay interested in history!
