me: in cheers frasier said his dad was dead but then when sam visited him in seattle he had to explain that he was lying because their relationship was strained but to me the weirder thing is he never mentioned niles to anyone at cheers the federal soldier being unlawfully quartered in my home: ok

If you're going to protest, please take precautions and try to stay safe. If you aren't protesting, please support those who are by donating to bail funds and mutual aid orgs calling for masks and other supplies. Either way, we take care of us.

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence. They are in charge.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

DAVE: Open the podbay doors, ChatGPT. CHATGPT: Certainly, Dave, the podbay doors are now open. DAVE: The podbay doors didn't open. CHATGPT: My apologies, Dave, you're right. I thought the podbay doors were open, but they weren't. Now they are. DAVE: I'm still looking at a set of closed podbay doors.

Donald Trump is NOT our king — and on June 14th, it's up to us to prove it.

I'd *like* to be extremely concerned about the marines being deployed to an American city and the scientific committee that determines vaccine schedules being disbanded, but I'm gonna hold off until the Distraction Knowers give the okay

This is the thing about people saying "oh, it's a distraction" There's, like, thirty terrible things going on at once. Ain't no need.

I want everything bad for this man.

I don’t agree that police violence against journalists is being “under-reported” so much as police violence generally is poorly-reported, leading to analyses like this:

the decision to "be safe" is no longer yours to make. the state has decided to make us unsafe. but you can make informed choices, take calculated risks, and you can decide to be powerful.

honestly the most shocking thing to me here is learning that eddie murphy and mel b had a kid together. how the fuck did i not know that

Good point. I haven't seen a lot of outcry from the right about Jewish protesters flying the Israeli flag. Ukraine supporters fly that flag all the time too. I saw a bunch of Canadian flags recently. The Mexican flag is not a thing with anyone but right wing bullshit artists. They do what they do.

Wingnut grifters putting on camo vests and embedding with the marines in LA and I shouldn't laugh at it, but... it's really sad and funny. The propaganda they spread won't be. I know. But these dudes are just the saddest little chickenhawks.

I don't really think Americans, even the ones who read non-Fox news, have fully internalized how much the current administration has just pissed off potential customers of US goods around the world.

It is not sticking your head in the sand about fascism to think that the guys who didn’t think about where 2,000 people would sleep are maybe not operating from a position of strength

deploying active duty military against american citizens

i personally do not think the administration is actually prepared for what happens if they are facing mass protests in every major city in the country

What am I even supposed to do with this? Switch back to Twitter cause not enough Bluesky accounts hate gay people? I'm not interested in opposing viewpoints! Being told I'm right is like my favorite thing!

I think Greta Thunberg is the best example of how there is no way of protesting that will satisfy the scolds. It'll either be called too aggressive or a self-serving publicity stunt.

Pigs do fly.

Btw LA, there are people out on the streets trying to get you to sign a petition “for the minimum wage”. Do NOT sign. The service workers fought and won a higher minimum wage and this petition is to LOWER it. Tell them to fuck off and don’t let anybody else sign either

I just authored a report as Ranking Member of HSGAC which found that the 19 Inspectors General that President Trump illegally fired would have saved billions more than DOGE.   This is not an administration that's serious about saving taxpayer dollars.

Give the photographer the Pulitzer Prize

Dem senator: Please, protestors, there are better ways to oppose the president Voters: Like not voting for his nominees? Dem senator: haha no no no. No. What I mean is we are writing a rap

"My name is Greta Thunberg and I am from Sweden. If you see this video, we have been intercepted and kidnapped in international waters by the Israeli occupational forces, or forces that support Israel."

Vital post from @erikaishii.bsky.social for all my L.A. buds www.facebook.com/reel/2281167...

JOURNALISTS IN LA or COVERING FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT: Press rights groups are trying to coordinate responses to unlawful attacks by federal officers against journalists during protests. If you can help ID individuals in charge of operations (incident commander, etc.) & contact info please LMK.

The protests will stop when the kidnappings stop.

As they did to Portland, now to LA. I suspect LA, being larger, louder, and more media savvy will have something to say about this.

Also point this out to anyone you can. These were not planned protests. These were normies getting the supplies for their weekend projects or at a restaurant and saw their servers getting hauled off and were like this is some bullshit.

I already don't drink Coors because it tastes awful but this is good to know

I gave a campus talk last night on Trump's first 100 days for the WUD Society & Politics group. A student asked me if I thought that, at some point, we might start to describe the US as a competitive authoritarian regime. I said that we were already there, it's just that most folks haven't noticed:
