Hopefully it means something. The huge irony is Ontario polling shows big disapproval of Ford govt on housing, healthcare + most else. Yet they are 40 % + in the polls re who people will vote for.

Hopefully. And quickly. So much damage done already.

Doug Ford needs to cancel Ontario’s contract with Starlink now. Absolutely solidarity with Ukraine but also to avoid it being used as a bargaining chip by Musk and Trump against Canada. Right now, Premier Ford.

“A reminder to believe nothing you see or hear on CBC.” Because if you did, they’d keep the power to hold Pierre to account for the things he says and does! And god forbid anyone does that!! Chickenshit, autocratic rhetoric from a guy who keeps boosting bootlicker media

Yes. Huge issue that is sliding by in the Ontario election campaign.

Re voting strategically, consult VoteWell.ca to see what candidate in your riding has the best chance of beating the Doug Ford PC candidate.

Totally.

What a moral failure by Shopify leadership. Shame. Tarnishing what had been a great Canadian business success story with their tech fascism Trump style politics.

Canadians on here actually being like "I can't believe how bad things are getting in the US" without acknowledging Alberta just passed some of the harshest anti-LGBTQ+ laws and are about to vote Doug Ford back into power. Wakeup because the far right are in inside the building

I voted in Ontario’s advance polls today for the candidate who has the best chance of defeating the incumbent Conservative. Please vote wisely and strategically. Doug Ford must be swept away.

The lack of knowledge of how democratic systems work is a HUGE problem in Canada + elsewhere. It isn't really taught in schools here. That results in apathetic and/or disinformed voters. The trend is getting worse. To Canada's detriment.

Canada's automobile manufacturing industry, centered in southern Ontario is inevitably about to take a big hit. But so is the U.S. + Mexico auto industries. China a big winner.

Echoing his idols Musk and Orbán, piffleswipe Pierre Poilievre would, if elected, cancel the CBC and redirect funding to rightwing nutbar websites like True North (currently disguising itself as “Juno News”). 🍁🙄🍁 pressprogress.ca/pierre-poili...

No matter the outcome, USA for me is equal to NO. Was at the grocery store yesterday, Campbell soup shelves are full, the other brands half empty, we are doing it!!!

The American owned Postmedia chain is clearly a threat to Canadian sovereignty. Period. New laws to abolish foreign owned media in Canada are a top priority!

Reminder No. 4,678,245 that Doug Ford is a terrible Premier.

I subscribe to the Waterloo Regional Recorder newspaper here in SW Ontario. Now, on its masthead is a red Canadian flag icon + "Canadian owned". It is part of the Toronto Star syndicate. Meanwhile, there are online posts to boycott the scores of Canadian papers owned by U.S. controlled Postmedia!

Polls show that rural Ontario - including Huron, Bruce, Grey, Perth, Wellington counties- are a total lock for Doug Ford's Conservatives despite the neglect. Unless a last week rebellion happens.

The message of our time!!

So true. So blind.

Rah rah! Good for Canadians!!

It's increasingly clear that the United States has already decided to withdraw from Europe — now it's just seeing how many concessions it can eke out before it does.

Correct. He’s not capable of playing multidimensional chess. Or chess. Or checkers. Or tic-tac-toe. As one of his aides put it during Shit Show I, “he’s just eating the pieces” on the board. Nothing he does is strategic. He’s purely guided by narcissistic, sociopathic impulses at all times.

Utterly appalling. And because the Conservatives hold a huge majority in the provincial legislature, and have fairly strong poll numbers, they'll probably get away with this.

Surprise, surprise.

NY Gov. Kathy Hochul’s response: “We are a nation of laws, not ruled by a king. The MTA has initiated legal proceedings in the Southern District of New York to preserve this critical program. We’ll see you in court.”

This column by Luke LeBrun is an important read. It outlines the torn down state of our media. The pernicious damage of biased algorithms on X + META. And how that affects public opinion + elections. Right now: Ontario.

At least Pence has the guts to speak out. Too many aren't.

The chipping away or dismantling of democratic structures is happening many places. Not just Nova Scotia + USA. Democracy is taken for granted by current generations. A lesson of Trump's demolition right now is: it can't be. Democracy is fragile + needs to be respected. Fought for if necessary.

It's Trump's fourth week on the job and he's already taking a week-long vacation in Florida. Tell me more about how nobody gets anything done when they work from home.

There is literally nothing good and successful that he won’t wreck.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the Invictus Games has a message for “Our American friends” that I think nails how a lot of Canadians feel right now. Some friendships are worth fighting for.

Consult VoteWell.ca for the NDP, Liberal or Green candidate with the best chance of defeating the Doug Ford PC nominee in Ontario.

DEAR MEDIA: STOP FRAMING THE UNIVERSITY BUDGET CRISIS AS PRIMARILY ABOUT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. THIS IS A CRISIS CAUSED BY PROVINCIAL FUNDING CUTS AND TUITION CAPS. calgary.citynews.ca/2025/02/18/p...

Totally agree. International boycotts of American products is the key to stopping Trump. Also, it is something every citizen here in Canada + around the world can be part of.
