Often it’s parental pressure that a school offers Triple Science and that their child studies it even if they’d be better served by Double. I taught at a v academic school which only did Double Award which had then to offer Triple to appease parents; their children then got worse grades overall.

What is really noticeable is how the media has changed since the last Labour government. They didn't exactly have an easy ride, but the attitude of e.g. press in 2024 is a whole step change more hostile.

Social media has certainly exacerbated friendship issues that have always existed amongst teenage girls. It only ever makes things worse as the distancing effect makes it easier to act and say things which are regrettable afterwards.
