As I say above, if they are so sloppy in their cost basis and "references" for their electrolyzer subsystem, can we trust ANY of their work in this paper!
And should peer-reviewed publications stop using the reviewers of this paper?
IMO this is a hot mess!

A 2008 Dept of Energy report highlights:
- ~3%w/w #hydrogen content in #aluminum (v low)
- #Al hydroxide byproduct & promoters must be shipped offsite & all reactants efficiently recovered
- 24% efficient electrolysis to produce #Al metal (1/2-1/3 the efficiency of water electrolysis!)
