Yeah that was true with a C64/C128 computers. a Ram Expansion Unit and 1581 DD 3.5 inch made word processing and GEOS 2.0 usable.

Federal Privacy Laws do not prevent government employees from data. It is illegal to DISCLOSE the data. Been there and done that as a admin clerk in the US Army. IMHO.

If you had a RAM ex pander and a 1581 DD GEOS 2.0 was great. Otherwise it sucked with a 1541 DD and standard 38k RAM on the C=64 computer. I used the hardware expanded GEOS 2.0 while in college to write papers and CALC spreadsheets for accounting.

it genuinely sucks that basically nothing on the internet works well anymore. search? barely works. social media? filled with garbage engagement-bait designed to game the algorithm. news websites? pages that refresh at random or so covered in video ads that it’s impossible to read stories

When I was a teenager I would get computer and technical magazines and circle all of the reader service numbers in the mag. I got a lot of junk mail delivered which did not make my parents happy. But I was getting mail all of the time! 😜

I got a free sample diskette back in the 80's, but I didn't think it was worth the money to have someone send me simple programs through the mail. I did extensively use GEOS 2.0, Packet Radio Software emulation and other technology related programs with my C= 8 bit computers.
