Reviews kind of missed the boat on 'Careless People', I thought; the profound ignorance behind the Silicon Valley hubris legit shocked me My review here flaminghydra.com/issue-281

The wealthiest man in the world has fully purchased the federal government of the United States. This is one of the most extraordinary crises in the history of this country and you need to ask whether your elected representatives are acting like it.

Netanyahu has not allowed any food, water, or fuel into Gaza in two weeks. Now he has resumed bombing, killing hundreds of people and breaking the ceasefire that had given Gaza a chance to live again. NO MORE MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL.

🚨BREAKING: ISRAEL RESUMES WAR ON GAZA Israeli Prime Minister’s Office: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz have instructed the military to take forceful action against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.”

"ACAB includes a cab." Is this anything?

Meet Evan Anzoo, a five-year-old boy in South Sudan who died when Elon Musk shut down USAID and the boy lost access to his HIV meds. Musk says no one has died because of the aid shutdown, but that's because he didn't look. RIP, Evan, you deserved better. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

sitcom-ass legal justification. joke of a country

If, as the Trump admin contends, the federal courts lack jurisdiction over a federal government flight over international waters, then there is nothing stopping the Trump admin from deporting American citizens. As soon as they reach international waters it is fait accompli.

We are families, workers, humans and are under political attack. Daily lives (police, schools, roads) will suffer as we are blocked form using our tax dollars. We have no representation. Call yours. DC, monuments, the neighborhoods belong to the nation. Protect them. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/12/u...

my timeline is just QTs of this post dunking on Schumer

When I think about how much money I have given to Democrats over the last 20 years, and see their incompetence and gutlessness in the present crisis, I feel nauseous

Just so you know Democrats are voting to defund the public schools attended by the kids of their own overworked and underpaid staff

(response to a post lamenting the cruelty of a political system that hazards the soul of every idealist, grinding down the morals they once fought for until all that remains is an empty shell fit only to serve as another bastard for capital) If you don’t like it why don’t you run for office!

i’m sorry, if you’re asking a glorified chat program how you should raise your kids, you should be reported to CPS

It is honestly wild to me that Republicans cooked up a bill that would prohibit D.C. from spending more than $1 billion of its own budget, devastating our city services out of pure spite, *and Senate Democrats might actually vote for it.* Utterly appalling. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

The news media gave more coverage to the idea Tim Walz retiring from the National Guard after 20 years was scandalous than to Trump's promise to destroy the department of education

If this is all a headfake by @schumer.senate.gov to fool Dem voters into believing Senate Dems tried to stop the Trump/Musk destruction while voting for cloture to enable it, that's going make Dems' electoral problems even worse. They will have proven to their base that voting for them is pointless.

The truth is that yes the “orange man bad” crowd has been vindicated but even more vindicated is everybody who was yelling about fascism back during the W administration

There’s no reason to have a Democratic Party if it won’t go to the mat to save the Department of Education. It’s a fundamental belief that children in America deserve better futures. It’s tremendously simple. You cannot continue funding a government that would close this.

FLYERS are you fucking kidding me

Here's a key reason Senate Dems shouldn't vote for the CR: Trump and Musk are the ones who are *already* shutting down the government. That's the frame the public will use to understand what's happening. Check out my exchange with @tommalinowski.bsky.social on this: newrepublic.com/article/1925...

Knight Institute Says Threats to Deport Student Protesters Pose “Existential Threat” to Universities Statement from @jameeljaffer.bsky.social below and at link. knightcolumbia.org/content/knig...

NYC Monday 3/10/25 - Release Mahmoud Khalil - US Permanent Resident detained by DHS for exercising free speech

Armed government agents went to the home of a lawful resident of the United States without a warrant and arrested him over the content of his speech. This is a five-alarm fire for civil liberties.

There were already people in the government "reducing waste, fraud and abuse." Trump fired them and replaced them with one unelected asshole who's canceling programs he personally doesn't like and awarding himself government contracts

moral panics re "woke," "political correctness," etc were designed to make: 1. counter-cultural commitments to relational egalitarianism & mutual consideration seem like stodgy, censorious conformism; 2. degenerate commitments to bigotry & complacency seem like high-minded tolerance & defiance
