I’ll never forget the day the staff found out we were getting a shout out on The Daily Show - in reference to the IVF fight in the state. we were so excited.
Then we saw the segment, which was one long “lol incest in the south” joke.
Our hard work was overshadowed by a cheap, lazy, joke.

What breaks my heart further - just 15 minutes down the road, we had a similar stop earlier that day. No cops were called. A community felt seen, a yummy free lunch was enjoyed between friends on a stoop, and dozens of family’s got at least a week supply of diapers.

What kills me is the community was delighted to see us there. Things I heard today: “no one ever does anything like this for us” and “I’ve never seen people like y’all in Phil Campbell”
