Luigi discourse is cursed, and frankly a sign of political infantilism

it is shocking the extent to which they openly sneer at morality

Unfortunately you have to primary everyone, not just because they don't have what it takes to fight, but because they don't have what it takes to rebuild. Last thing you want is them to win by default and then tread water until the next Trump comes to power

This actually fits right into the Republican worldview that it’s somebody else’s job (usually the liberals’) to protect them from themselves. Like I think they really do believe this

A tiny, intensely illuminated Italian book of hours, newly acquired at the Boston Public Library. Copied in or around Brescia at the end of the 15th century, this book has never been in an institutional collection and will soon be digitized. The next frontier in parking reform after minimum requirements: parking standards. How large the stalls must be, how flat the slopes must be, etc. Roomier standards essentially act as subsidies for SUVs and pickup trucks, forcing developers to accommodate them at everybody else’s expense.

Im kinda curious why parrying has caught on so much in games. It's not exactly a new innovation. What led to the explosion of action games of all genres embracing it?

I still don't think people have internalized that Clarence Thomas is a black nationalist. Also, part of the rightward swing of young POC is a turn to ethnic nationalism. Both of these things are underecognized by people who aren't the target of such messaging.

When it’s over, there will be attempts to spin an epic narrative about this. Realist IR theorists will come up with some balance of power BS, the media will try to make it some kind of operatic tragedy, etc. Resist this. It was stupid and pathetic and senseless. Don’t let them gaslight you.

This game is so excellent man

Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

The Great Circle gets two thumbs up from me

"what's bushidoliberalism?" basically this but instead of an emperor the object of reverence is the constitution and trans rights

If we go back to the insight that Medieval European states were essentially protection rackets and combine that with the Silicon Valley right’s fondness for Yarvinist techno-feudalist ideology, this all starts to click together.

i know i have to tone it down for the liberals in the audience but sometimes i want to start screaming about how the only answer to the crisis of gender relations is recognizing the divine unity of masculine and feminine in one soul

The definitive coolest animals: * Beavers * Elephants * Snails

it is funny how basically the trump years have made me go full "socialist in econ, liberal in politics, conservative in virtue"

you kind of have to hope that the next president rides in on a giant wave of civic nationalism. i will work for the next government, whatever that government is.

Can I mention something without anyone getting mad?

you're currently living through one of the largest positive technological revolutions in modern history - solar and batteries replacing fossil fuels - and you're hearing more about chatbots because the people who run our country make money selling oil

Elon Musk has dramatically altered my class consciousness. I used to be middle class, ambidextrous bourgeois/proletariat, depending on the particular dispute; work for a living but acquire human capital to enhance my work and interests in physical capital to support my retirement. 1/

I really need to follow more film people but i can't fuckin find any. I want to look at screenshots of pretty movies instead of fascism. Where are the pretty screenshots

right! lina khan accomplished nearlyh nothing to reign in Big Tech! i work on issues she regulated and only occasionally looked up from my desk to figure out what it was she was doing.

Can you imagine if, during the Afghanistan fiasco, Republicans had simply refused to comment on it, and said “Actually, COVID is the main issue on voters’ minds”? And then congratulated themselves on “not taking the bait”? Can you imagine how much better that would have been for Biden?

It’s a shame American transit costs are so high and our land use patterns so bad because we should have a bunch of glup shitto metros in metro areas of 1-3 million

The anti DEI pro trump stuff is purely about discipline organizing workers example # 5373

Will Stancil would unironically make a good senator right now.

If I was a guy who was thinking about organizing a coup, I would probably be thinking "No one who is engaged enough would mind and the dumb fucks who would mind think it's no more illegitimate than every other liberal government"

These people hate you. Yes you there reading this. They want your kids sick and uneducated, your country defenseless while their rich pedo friends suck up to dictators around the world. You don't hate the current GOP enough. I understand you're making a valiant effort but it's simply not possible.
