He was just trying to clean up the mess that spontaneously happened. I see no proof that he did anything wrong.

He confirmed it from his twitter account.

It is probably the same sort of person who got upset when Rage Against the Machine suddenly became political.

As far as I'm aware, Trump hasn't checked of violating the 3rd amendment yet from his list, so that is always an option.

Out of curiosity, between this sort of thing, and all the threadnaught stuff, how many times have actually people filed grievances against you? Or is it mostly just a threat they bellow about on social media to hope that they can scare people?
comment in response to post
Maybe because the market assumed that it wouldn't be approved at all, so that is better than they expected?

Isn't being an affront to both nature and god mean that it is appropriate for Dallas to have it?

I'm pretty sure they used to post entirely worthless alt text where they copy/pasted their main post into the alt text, but they entirely stopped after people complained it was pointless.

I saw someone talking about this earlier, and they were saying the real impact will be next year, because now is when the factories should be starting to produce fireworks for 2026. with the uncertainty, they may not bother and there won't be time to make them even of tariffs go away.

He hasn't tweeted in over an hour. It might be a new record.

I think it is largely grifters who want to be able to monetize their account in the future who are trying to get that established as a standard, because they think they could then get more money out of it.

Of course you aren't. It is just your second 59th birthday. Happy birthday!

That was me this morning. She just wanted to go out and sit. And because she has a bandage, she needs to be closely supervised when not wearing her cone, so I got to sit with her.

I think the key thing there is that many congressional republicans personally knew and hated him because he is obnoxious. They didn't care about the crimes and moral behavior, they just hated him on a personal level.

Based on what I've seen, mostly by complaining loudly on Nextdoor.

I think that is fake. I didn't see it when I looked at her account.

He is apparently talking about clawing back $20 billion in allocated funds going to various climate related things such as a program for loans to lower income people to get solar panels.
comment in response to post
Honestly, I'm just waiting for Elon to start trying to cut off funding to judges who rule against him.

I haven't gone that far myself, but I am moving the icon to different places on my phone every week so that I can't just idly open up bluesky without thinking about it. I need to try to remember where it is this time, which gives me a chance to realize that I can do other things to fill my time.

If you want to tell the goats to get down, then you can climb up there yourself to do it.

The most common complaint I see in my local nextdoor is how much more traffic will be created by having denser housing. I kind of suspect that is largely cover for "we don't want poor people, and denser housing is meant for poor people", but there is probably at least some honesty there.

There is also the new general counsel at OPM, who is a self described "Raging misogynist" who has called for reparations from slaves ("From", not "to"). He isn't a teenager, but he acts like a teen trying to be edgy. www.pogo.org/investigatio...

I was at a hmart about a week ago, and they had matcha, milk tea, and apple pie kit kats.

And he is a deacon. It is amazing how so many people cloak themselves in the aesthetics of Christianity while holding the morals of it in contempt.
comment in response to post
With Bluesky's reduced reliance on algorithmic feeds, how effective is that sort of fake engagment thing? It seems like there is less of a point to doing it if it won't be seen by more real eyeballs. Is it just a holdover from it working on previous social media so they didn't change anything?
comment in response to post
I don't understand that with em dashes. That being said, when I was grading student papers, any time I saw a correctly used semi-colon, I would immediately copy and paste a few quotes into google to check for plagiarism. Something like half the time, I would end up finding it.
comment in response to post
To be fair, he probably didn't. It reads more like he ordered his secretary to do it, and they just copy pasted his bio into it.

I recently got my mom moved over to Bluesky from twitter. Within an hour of getting her a new account and before she posted anything. She had been followed by at least a dozen onlyfans spammers. I had to explain what that was to her. She now has over 100 followers, all are fake. No posts.
comment in response to post
No built in monetiziation, but if you have enough real eyeballs on your posts, when you post a request for money or an advertisment for your producta, you are more likely to get some money. I do suspect that most of those accounts are planning on doing that (if they aren't Russian).

And it is a $200 toy. It is a cute plush dinosaur though, so at least the daughter gets some value out of it.

The full giant post: (I am only including the new text in the alt text, otherwise it would be too big).

I feel like I have heard at some point it phrased as a judge needing to recuse if there is a "perceived conflict of interest". At what point does that actually occur? If there were suddenly half a dozen major news papers writing about this, would that matter even if the COI doesn't exist?
comment in response to post
It seems particularly bad for new people who just join bluesky too. I was recently helping my mom get set up, and within a hour of her creating her account and starting to add people to follow, she had 15 different porn spammers who started following her. It is a much higher rate than I get.
comment in response to post
Honestly, I suspect most of the accounts pushing the idea that you should follow back are spammers or other marketers who want that to become a norm because it would make their jobs easier.
comment in response to post
The one upside I see is that if they cough, it will at least catch whatever comes out of their mouth. So better than nothing I guess?

That is the most blocked in the last 24 hours list. Brianna is still #1 at 53,700.
comment in response to post
So it looks like that puts him at 7th most blocked overall. I'm sure that can be pushed higher.
comment in response to post
The only thing that irritates me more is "reduce by half, about 5 minutes". And then you spend the next 30 minutes reducing the liquid by half.
comment in response to post
Honestly, I think the people who most push it as a thing are spammers and others who look at their accounts as assets. They then follow huge numbers of people and hope that a fraction of those people feel obliged to follow them back.
comment in response to post
I honestly find it weird when people follow me back. Like, 99% of my posting is in replies to other people. The main exception is if it is someone I know outside of the internet (or at least, know outside of this corner of the internet).

Here is Artemis, peacefully dreaming of chasing rabbits without a care in the world.

I'm jealous. Texas has systematically crippled and defunded our DMV. Appointment only, and they were booked solid for 2-3 months. Then, when I got to my appointment for 30 min after they opened, they were already 2 hours behind schedule. It is the efficiency borne of Republican governance.
comment in response to post
This is what pushed me to cancel. I can always resubscribe if they change, but me canceling yesterday was the loudest way I could make a protest that reaches the ears of their management.

The only problem is I can't use the Tulsi Gabbard (D-amascus) joke anymore. Oh well, I'm sure I'll be able to find other ways to joke about it.

There is no need. Like all spiders, that one just wanted a hug.
comment in response to post
I found a giant spider on one of my walks.
comment in response to post
Artemis is 12 now, but she still enjoys hour long walks. Of course, now maybe 45 minutes of it involves resting in various parks, but that still counts as being on a walk.
