Because Columbo is a working-class person just doing their job very well who takes down the most powerful of society - those so powerful they think they can get away with murder.

Nobody is wrong for thinking that Benjanun is problematic, that she cannot be forgiven, that she's horrible, whatever. Because she *has done those things*. But as she has hurt people, she has also helped people. And I think it's a little... over-cautious to shun those who have accepted her help.

Again. I may be wrong, and please correct me if I am. I believe in second chances, I don't believe in third chances. She has done horrible things. But lately her impact on the community has been more positive than negative. I'm optimistic - but not blindly so - that it continues.

Ah. I'm not playing the "she was nice to me" card. What she did was wrong. It remains wrong, it was hurtful. These things are not forgotten and there is no obligation for her victims to forgive her. I also think that (so far as I am aware, and I may be wrong) that behavior has stopped.

I'm a Xennial. Missed the cutoff date for Millenials by 9 months. Where do I sign in?

So in the broad picture, no victories, not even small ones. In the personal picture, no victories, not even small ones. And there's nothing I can do while the world falls apart around me, and I'm stuck on the bottom tier of Maslow's Hierarchy. And there's no one to catch me when I fall.

But it'll never happen. This is why Luigi is a folk hero and nobody likes the Democrats. Luigi has done more to defy fascism in the US than any Democrat - and I will include AOC/Bernie in that list - they're still pretending the rules apply.

* I really want a victory. A meaningful victory. Or at the least, an act of defiance against the inevitability of the fascist takeover of the U.S. I don't care if it's not *viable*, it would give me - and many others - so much hope to hear Democratic governors talk openly about rebellion.

* I'm not drowning. But I'm treading water and I'm not getting any closer to shore, and I am so, so, so tired. . No job, no real job prospects.

* I have had to be so, so strong to get to this point. Call it "male socialization" but I feel like breaking down in tears and crying is... weakness. And I know - I KNOW - it should be okay to be weak sometimes... but only when there's someone there to *catch* you when you fall. I have no one.

*I'm probably overeating because food is the only thing I can take pleasure in. Without fluency in the language, I can't engage in pleasurable conversation or philosophy discussion. Without my wit and charm, it is hard to make friends, platonic physical contact (hugs), and it was always hard to date

One Columbo in the position of Merrick Garland would have prevented all of this.

When we were kids growing up, Columbo was boring. We knew the bad guy did it, we knew how, we knew the good guy would catch them. No suspense, really. No action. What we didn't know was that Columbo was *wish fulfillment* and I think that's why Columbo has found a rebirth.

And Columbo's baddies were all high-status people who thought money and privilege would protect them. That's part of why I want to write Columbo v. Dorley. They both have the same bad guy - aristos who believe they're above the law.

The times changed, and so did we. Columbo is not a story for kids and teenagers. We hadn't lived with injustice for long enough to take pleasant joy in a character fighting for it slowly, and methodically in the system.

It's one of the reasons I've avoided WYFFH. :( I remember being a teenager. I don't want to feel like that again. EVER.

I used to boof prog, but I think there's a little prog in the injections I get now. I used to love how I felt on prog, but the biggest problem is that I'm not really able to date right now. All it will do is make me frustrated. Ugly trans girl blues.

Bree, haven't I literally mentioned that I WANT TO WRITE Columbo X Dorley?

Columbo would have fixed me.

That... yeah, that game... that's a game. That's a very powerful game. That game is very powerful. It's a powerful game. For some people. Some people with questions. For them to play. It's super... it can be a lot.

Nobody tased me. Or put me in a cell, or cared about my feelings. I had a pretty good life. And then Maria showed up. You dangerous, feminist lunatics. So you know what? You win. I'm a girl.

You know, Deleting Aaron just now taught me a valuable lesson: the best solution to a problem is usually the easiest one. And I'll be honest? Being a boy? Is hard. You know what my days used to be like? I just wanked.

...The surge of emotion that shot through me when I saved your life from Declan taught me an even more valuable lesson - where Aaron lives in my brain. Aaron Deleted Goodbye Aaron Holt.
