Is it their best album? Possibly, but the first two are better song for song. This one is where mood and emotion take center stage. You can clearly see how Vedder took over the sole leadership role for better or worse depending on your point of view.

From most accounts CCR were not a great live act
Don’t like Zep.
That leaves the Lizard.

Close To the Edge was by far their best record. Fragile had too much solo noodling.
