Great feel good atmosphere in the city for the Sam Fender gigs. City-centre concerts are a huge boost for the local economy. Packed bars & restaurants, buzzing streets. But SJP’s limits (toilets for lasses) were clear. Newcastle needs more gigs, which means a new stadium. #NUFC

If a new stadium in Leazes Park is our future, St James’ Park must be returned to the city as green space - linking Leazes with Gallowgate will look pretty special. Everyone wins… except the trees. Hard to square that one. #nufc

If you watch anything today watch this from @carolecadwalla & @jonstewart youtu.be/vG7CvbccdVM?...

I suspect further reshuffling in the boardroom is imminent. The timing of the announcement that Paul Mitchell is serving his notice, alongside the CEO’s expected departure, doesn’t feel like a coincidence to me. #NUFC

What a season. Winning the League Cup could’ve been the peak, but this team kept pushing. The drive, belief, and consistency in the final 10 games has been sensational. Our best season in living memory. #NUFC

Has Ed Sheeran been working out? Looks like he’s shed some chub. I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea (who is?), but I’ve always thought he’s a thoroughly talented guy. Very likeable too, comes across as a genuinely nice bloke.

New contract for Dan Burn, I think it’s fair to say that lad retires a Newcastle Player. #nufc

James nailing it - as per.

Coverage of idiots claiming ‘betrayal’ or ‘surrender’ isn’t just bad journalism, it’s a dereliction of our duty to explain things. I’d actually forgotten just how bad it got but here we are, straight back to treating liars & spivs like authorities of equal weight to experts & honest brokers.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Great points from your callers this morning. Glass half full man shares my optimism. Let’s not forget this is now an ‘annual’ UK-EU summit. Expect more changes, more cuts to Brexit. Starmers best play maybe holding up the Brexit mirror to the charlatans that delivered it.

Starmer may have played a blinder here. If the now annual UK-EU summit happens around this time every year then it will land right before next election. What better way to remind the public about what Farage did to this country - right before an election.

Eurovision vote a reminder that the far right are still very much a minority. They piled their votes on one horse and it still didn’t win.

Never celebrated a Eurovision win as much as that before. Congratulations whoever won.

Got round to reading Farage two page “manifesto” in yesterday’s Mail. Populist slogans/unfunded promises strung together in a piece designed to portray 🇬🇧 as third world. But how about this for nerve from Mr Brexit? “The casual lies and careless attitudes of our political class have let people down”.

Let’s do this #nufc 👊

Tense? Nervous? We all should be - tomorrow is massive and here is Lee Forster with an absolutely belter of a match preview for you to get your peepers round - tf1892.substack.com/p/tf-preview... #NUFC

No deal beats the benefits of EU membership, but the India and US trade deals are good news post-brexshit. This is how government should work, acting in the country’s best interest and not kowtowing to ideology. Country before party. #FBPE

So, Trump is no longer the most followed American. I bet he’s thrilled. 😆

Haha, the Pope just knocked Trump off the news feed. He’ll be furious.

Oh dear, Steroid beef incoming.

He’s right. Journalists should also be pointing this out.

Massive game on Sunday, fans need to play their part. #nufc

Immigration is not the problem it’s now widely believed to be. Brexit is much more of a problem than it’s reported to be. So how can govt achieve growth, fix public svcs and deal with the cost of living if fear of Reform means it won’t be honest with us about these 2 elephants in the room? It can’t.

2nd is in our hands. #nufc

Farage comes straight out saying his new councillors need to do a ‘DOGE’ - Musk’s ruinous approach to culling govt offices and public services. ‘Efficiency savings’ that are costing America dearly. This isn’t change. This is more of the vicious uselessness that broke our country in the first place.

@labouruk.bsky.social Labour needs to stop chasing Reform voters. You don’t beat populists by sounding like them. Stand for something. Show some backbone. Appease the far-right fringe, and you’ll lose the people who’ve had your back for decades.

Who votes Reform? They’re the Brexit party FFS. They’ve trashed our economy, made us all poorer, split the nation for the best part of 10 years and kick started a summer of riots. The guy is a fucking anarchist. And people vote for them? Honestly feel like giving up. It’s another Trump cult.
