Agreed. I also think that goals per minute stat allows some good sub contributions to mask a lower than needed goal return. The fact his numbers stand up when he’s perceived to be flopping suggests that the potential is massive if he can go on an extended feasting period.

That’s a stunning stat, shows how good he is and how good could become with only a small improvement in chance conversion. I think the root of much of the over-criticism is frustration at the misses but that will go with just a few more goals. Nobody remembers the misses when you score the winner.

People don’t remember what a title challenge looks like. They only remember the 97 points City chased where any point dropped was a disaster and the 19-20 procession. Title chases used to be messy like this one. We’re doing far better than anyone expected. Enjoy it.

The thing is we can attract players like Ngumoha because we can demonstrate that there is a pathway to the first team that they won’t get elsewhere. If we signed everyone these folks want we’d have a whole team of expensive dead wood blocking that path.
